You can rotate the screen with it ... :-) I guess you can do this also with the XRandR module in XFree, but I can't get it working... I think this confirms what I've thought for a while - there are reminents of the Xig AcceleratedX drivers floating around my system even though I uninstalled the two Xig rpm's, reinstalled mesa*.rpm, and have been running with nvidia 4191 for a couple of months. After a couple more hours of trial and error I managed to get SaX2 to run with the latest nvidia drivers installed. However, when I selected "change" to manually config the display, a dialog box titled "xapi" stopped with a message "keyboard still locked - please wait" which sat there for several minutes before I cancelled it. I then copied by my old XF86Config (which I of course backed up before starting this process) back to /etc/X11 and X started up. It still chugs about a bit trying different display resolutions, but it does start. I've attached that one here as well as XF86Config.jjl. By the way, the new nvidia drivers look very nice. Although some of the improvement may also be XFree86 4.3. User Mode Linux (uml) kernel compilation

Hello, In the kernel source distributed by Suse there is the user mode architecture available. Unfortunately when I'm trying to compile it does not work. Parallel Port Scanner - Any Help?

I have acquired (free) a Visioneer OneTouch 7600 parallel port scanner. Has anyone had any experience making one of these work in SuSE? I am running SuSE 8.0 (until I get 8.2)? I have done some searching and have not been able to find anything useful. Will SANE work with parport scanners? I can always re-boot into Widoze and use it but I'd rather not. Any help is appreciated. TIA D.C.

Custom menus in KDE3

Hi Everybody. I have my middle mouse-button programmmed for Custom menu 2 in the Configure desktop dialog of KDE3. I guess that by default, this allows me to start an Xterm. knode woes

What is it with knode? I experience still more crashes with this program. Once in a while even when I press the "Send" button on a newly composed posting or answer, which is *really* annoying. Does anyone else here experience the same problems? Best regards, David List

kernel panic

Hello: I recently attempted to automatically update my Suse Linux 8.0 and after having done so am no longer able to launch the kernel, i.e., I get a KERNEL PANIC unable to mount root ~ error message. I am however able to mount the root using the rescue system, and able to boot normally from the installation disk. Does anybody have any ideas as to how to fix this? THANKS very much for your help.
