Near-Line Storage

Hello, everyone. I have recently acquired a new (old) server that came with a Compaq DLT Mini Library. The library has room for 15 tapes, and has a pair of 35/70 DLT drives inside it, along with a bar code reader (which I will probably never use). Having spoken to a Compaq support person, it seems that the drive is a Manatee or Manatee 2, if that helps. A search for this on the Compaq site yields no results, although there is a reference to it on the Arcserve site listing it as a supported device for their products. I am trying to decide which avenue to follow for this device. I would like to either use it as a back-up device or as a near-line storage device. If it could do both simultaneously, that would be awesome, but I think that's unlikely. My question is, does anyone know of any freely available utilities that would help with setting the device up as near-line storage ? I have found a few commercial offerings out on Google, and Freshmeat drew a blank, too. I can't spend a great deal of money on this as it is a home machine. I'd like to use it get our large collection of MPEG and MP3 files off the hard drives and free up some space. Thanks, Stuart.

Kernel panic has me panicked, help

Last two days I have had the following kernel panic twice. Prior to this I have never had a problem. Does anyone know where you can find a copy of Corel's Wordperfect Office 2000 for Linux? I've been using WP since the dos days. If I can get WP on my Linux box, I can discard my Microsoft 98 partition. If that's a no go, will WP Windows version work on Crossover Office? StarOffice just doesn't have the features I'm looking for. Top output not adding up.

md5 does not work. I followed all the pam directions. I followed all the Yast directions. it doesn't work. so who owns this box me or the neighbor? honestly this is utterly ridiculous. access.conf refuses to work. md5 refuses to work. this box cannot be secured to current standards without a ton and a half of headcaches. it's no wonder my firewall been taking a pounding all day, since I joined this list yesterday I have the most unbelievable number of hits on target ports. the suse ain't online guys. it probably never will be.

Radeon and SoundBlaster

I just noticed an updated EMU10K1 driver on SourceForge, and had a question: Has anyone successfully installed the driver? I also have been looking at the DRI project for RADEON drivers. Has anyone gotten these to work on a SuSE Linux 8.0 Pro? -- See Ya' Howard Coles Jr. John 3:16!
