Font problems with window managers

Hi Just installed 7.2 over 6.1 (fresh install, not update). The machine sits in my cupboard and acts as a internet gateway & mail server. I used X-Win32 to run X-sessions from my Win2K machine, but after the new install, although I can connect to run an xterm, I can't get some window managers to work. Although KDE does then go on to load properly. I get the same problems if I try to run X-Windows on the machine itself locally (not over the network) so the problems isn't because of that. It looks like the window managers are having problems finding required fonts, although I don't know how to fix this (can't find anything in the SDB). Any help would be greatly appreciated. CD-Roast Question

When attempting to burn more than 1 Cd in a session, following the read of the subsequent disk, I get the message that the file sizes are not the same with an offer to continue anyway or abort. since I can't find an explanation of why this is occuring, I always just quit. At the end of any read or burn I don't elect to save the file, so I'm a little confused as to why I'm getting this message. Would someone either provide an explanation or point me to where I should be reading to solve this for myself. tnx, dave

I'd suggest you use the program "gpart" at: http://www.stud.uni-hannover.de/user/76201/gpart/ It is supposed to be able to recover a damaged partition. READ the instructions. Sometimes it is just enough to recreate your partitions exactly as you had them before (without recreating the file systems.) For that to work, you should have printed and saved the partition table. It is a good practice and I'd suggest everybody do it as a preventative measure. Rafael

I have a fresh SuSE7.2 install on an i386 laptop. How can I make a .config file of the current kernel configuration. apache, php, and mysql

I need to know how to support php and mysql, i have a high speed line and gave a friend some space, I have no clue how to make my version of apache support php and mysql. garbled fonts

Hello all, is anyone else receiving garbled fonts from Thomas Adam or is it my machine? Everytime I receive a mail from Thomas, I have to hit the reply button to read it. Is this my machine or his? I can't paste the actual look of his mail over here, since my fonts override his when replying or pasting. no offense Thomas, just making sure my machine is Ok. -- David M. Iptables vs ipchains?

When I run "lsmod" is see that ipchains is loaded. However, reading a few articles about nix firewalls, most focus on iptables. I would like to employ a basic set of rules and sites and build from there.
