thank thou I am set!
I now burn Audio CDs successfully using
"cdrecord dev=0,1,0 -v -audio speed=2 /cd/audio" and what have you!
But: Two seconds (and therefore two questions) are left:
01) The gaps in front of the tracks are usually 2 seconds and
that gets on my nerves when I want to burn long mixes.
How can I get rid of them?
I just found out about: devpregap=0
It is written that these commands will be replaced soon.
What then? What is the difference between those?
What works best for you? Is there yet another command?
Does that depend on which CDW you use?
02) I have my "burning PC" set up so that I can transfer the
wav or image files via LAN and then start actual burning.
Now, that I have not quite encountered problems, do I have
to switch runlevel down (=network off) during burn action?
If so, would s.t. like init 1 and afterwards init 2 be
enough to secure that no fifo underruns occure?
Any friendly help or pointer appreciated. TiA

After much searching I found a set of beta drivers for
RedHat Linux 7.0 with instruction for installing.
My questions are:
1. Will the Redhat instruction apply to Suse
2. Since I have Suse 7.1 is this going to be a
3. Should I succeed in installing the drivers, once
released version of the drivers is out, can I
install them without loosing the data on my HD
4. Does anyone have an alternative or better solution
for this? Or any experience with the same problem?
Thanks in advance for all your help!

I am informed by a website that I have a browser that doesn't support Java
and so it will not go any further with whatever it might display. This
happened in Netscape and Konqureor both. Is there a plug-in I should
get and use, or some kind of modification of the kernel (brrr!) of what?
I recall seeing mention of an application that makes it possible for Linux to write to an
HPFS partition. I would like to get it. Has anyone any knowledge of this app.?

I posted a question a while ago about installing DB2 on linux. I down loaded
the installation tar file from IBM and tried to exectue the installation
I had an error which turned out to be because I need to be running pdksh
(public domain korn shell).
My question is I currently run bash on my suse 7.1 box. How do I
install/load pdksh. Is it on the 7.1 professional cd's that I have ???
If anybody could help this linux newbie I would be most grateful.
I had the same problem with Kmail after upgrade, but now I have fixed it.
First check that you don't have any KDE2.2Beta packages lying around. Kmail is
part of the KDEnetwork package, see that you have the most recent version of

A strange thing has started happening in 2.2. All of a sudden, sound is tied
to desktop. It works fine for non-kde apps, so it must be an artsd thing.
What happens is that when I change desktops, the sound from the apps on the
previous desktop stops, and doesn't return until I go back to the desktop
Has anyone else seen this?
Am I the only person in the world who can't configure ide-scsi?
The ide-scsi module is loaded according to lsmod and boot.msg but hdc and hdd
keep on working as atapi devices. ( unless I make the hdc scd0 and hdd
scd1links when they become 'unknown devices'
