Compiling Qt 2.3.0 for SuSE

How can I find out how qt-experimental is compiled for SuSE 7.1. Thus what parameters should be given to configure? -xft offcourse, but how about threads or no threads etc. Pointers, ideas anyone? BB, Arjen

How to make "ifconfig alias"

Hello All, How to make "ifconfig alias" in SuSE 7.0, kernel 2.4.2? Manual "ifconfig" is not give an ansver to that question. In BSD-unix is simple: ifconfig alias <IP-addr>. Is we have only one IP with one interface? It will be sad. -- Best regards, Dmitry mailto:dk@svib.ru

Anyone got ViaVoice working on 7.1?

Hey all, I have an SBLive!, and I've installed it using YaST, so I guess it's using the ALSA drivers. Having plenty of trouble with ViaVoice (the downloadable version). I had it working at least partially on 7.0, but now the test-your-speakers part just makes scratchy noises, even though I can play music and talk through my microphone (ahh, feedback ;-) just fine. Also the Java seems to crash, probably due to incompatible SDKs and runtimes. Java is so sad. It's a wonderful idea, write-one-run-anywhere but it's not even backwards compatible! Not in my end-user experience anyway. Anyway.... if anyone's got it working I'd like to hear what you had to do to get it that way. how to get kcd player to work

Hi All Im trying to figgure out how to simply play a music cd with kscd. If I put a cd in the program says "no kcddb entries" as if it were looking for a database entry. No doubt the program should easily work... but for the life of me I cant simply insert a music cd and have it play. Strange errors in boot log

Hi Guys I am getting some strange error messages during boot up. As far as I know the only changes I have made is to upgrade XFree to 4.0.3. I have attached the boot log file ifsomeone could advise me how to correct the configuration. Thanks you and regards Mark Annandale

Hi, Thanks for the reply. I know what is kernel modules and what is modutils. I had to be a little more precise before. SuSE has both modules.rpm and modutils.rpm packages which seem to be doing the same, becuase description of both is "Utilities for the loading of kernel modules". Kernel modules themselves are included with another rpm kernel package which is usually called k_defit*, k_386*.
