I got trouble connecting to a Linux box, which has firewall running on it, using X-Win. I am not sure if I got to have 'exec' allowed on the firewall. I did though put into /etc/rc.confgi.d/firewall.rc.config port 512:514. FW_SERVICES_EXTERNAL_TCP="smtp domain ftp ssh www 512:514" FW_SERVICES_TRUSTED_TCP="ssh 512:514" I uncommented in /etc/inetd.conf the rexec line. In XWin I set up rexec hostname login name /usr/bin/xterm -display <IP to connect from> It doesn't do anything upon trying to connect. Changing machine name

Where are the books again?

Hi: I'm having a SuSE blocking attack, here. I went to find the Using Samba book, and it dawned on me, I also wanted to see what the other five books [I recall there were six books included], but here I sit, unable to find the damn directory. Anyone know off-hand how a beginner can locate them? SuSE7.0 Professional CD package a linux box and a windows box pinging each other, just waiting to network, but first I want that list of books! Help? Thanks, Tom

I now I got it working once but then Win98 overwrote my boot sector so I re-installed Linux on a partition that wasn't bootable and had to load Linux with loadlin. But now it doesn't matter I now have 4 operating systems(Dos, Win98, Linux Suse 7.0, qnx,). I hope I'll get my burner working sometime and hope they will get these f*** drivers for my HP printer and my LPT1 printer Pit A.

If you don't have the books installed on your hard drive, put CD 1 of the Suse 7.0 set into your CDROM drive, and start YaST2 by entering "YaST2" command at prompt in root. At the next menu, select Install/Remove packages, and then Tab to Launch Module and hit Enter. At the next menu, Tab to the group of choices in the upper left corner. Scroll down to, and highlight "doc Documentation." Tab over to the menu on the right hand of the screen and choose the documents you wish to have installed on your hard drive. You should see the choice "books" all the way down the list. I believe those are the series of books you are referring to. The total file size is roughly 23.55 megs. I hope this helps. Text File Manipulation Question

I have what I think should be a simple question regarding a text file. The structure is like this example: 123.45 Ab123 Abub, Bob All My Favorite Stories 567.89 B45 Banks, Billy Best Loved Chemistry Experiments Each group of 3 lines would be a record describing a book (call no., author, title). I typically have 450-500 of these in a file. How can I make this file into a database? (Using Linux tools.)
