Network question

This is a *little* O/T, but I need some assistance - and this list is one of the more technically competant and (yes, I'll say it) SANE ones I subscribe to. What's the best way of tracing a network address (DNS entry) to ascertain the PHYSICAL location of the server ? Reason I ask is I've had someone bid $2000 for a way cool SONY SA/CD-DVD player I won and don't need (they retail for $3500 in Australia). Hus domain is cctoday.net, which shows up as registered through networksolutions.com in the USA. I have a funny feeling this guy doesn't understand that I'm in Australia. Any hints ??? Jon

Hi everibody, i have installed firewals (series sec), i have configure /etc/rc.firewall like suggested on my SuSE Italian handbook, but when i restart the system i find: Starting Firewall Initialization: (final run) The Firewall script needs to know the external (internet) interface! USB mouse on Thinkpad 21e

Hi, I'm new to Suse 7.2, just install it couple days ago on my Thinkpad 21e. Before I had a Rea Hat and Mandrake. So far Suse seems to work very well. The only thing I have a problem with are the new tools I'm not familiar with. Please let me in on what tools do I use to configure X (just in case I want to change my configuration)? And the most important one for me, how do I install USB mouse, on my thinkpad? The big problem is that I do not have PS/2 port! So I'm pretty well stuck with USB. It would be the best if it would be possible make both mice working together! I would greatly appreciate any help! Thanks Wojtek

Nvidia Drivers and X Memory Consumption

I wonder if anyone could explain to me the reason why X + Nvidia drivers reports such high memory usage: /proc/<pid>/stat w/ nvidia module: Name: X VmSize: 209152 kB VmLck: 0 kB VmRSS: 24636 kB VmData: 18632 kB VmStk: 776 kB VmExe: 1340 kB VmLib: 1364 kB /proc/<pid>/stat w/ nv module: Name: X VmSize: 65252 kB VmLck: 0 kB VmRSS: 12932 kB VmData: 9900 kB VmStk: 776 kB VmExe: 1340 kB VmLib: 1364 kB Does X really need 200 MB? I suspect that the memory usage is just incorrectly reported, since the total memory usage reported by the 'free' command would not seem to include such a huge chunk. Detection of incoming SMTP connections..iptables question ?

Hello, I am seeking for a solution to the following. I use an iptables based firewall which works more or less... I am trying to find a way of detecting that *no* incoming SMTP connection has occurred for a certain period .. say 5 minutes. I need a program to take a certain action if this occurs, so it has to be magical. I can interrogate the logs of course, but I wonder if any wizard out there has a neater solution.
