Slow Connection time on certain 'ports'

Hi, No sure what I have done (same old story), but for some reason, connecting to/via certain services on my server box (SuSE 6.4) now takes up to a minute, but other 'services' are instant. Everything was 'instant' before. For example... connecting to Samba = Instant connecting via SSH (port 22) = 1 Minute connecting to Interbase (port 3050) = Instant connecting to CVS (port 2401) = 1 Minute connecting to Borland AppServer = Instant The only 'major' thing I have done recently is set up my box to be a dial in PPP server. Any ideas? Cheers Phil

Greetings I recently ran an upgrade on my Linux based router from version 6.3 kernel 2.2.16 to kernel 2.2.17 and then installed the version 7.0 libraries. Everything works well, except when I ran the KDE upgrade from 1.2 to 2.0 I can't get KDE to run anymore. I keep getting the error message of: kwm: error in loading shared libraries: libstdc++-libc6.1-2.so.3: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory I thought I saw this problem sometime in the past, but I can't find the solution. More than one NIC

YaST2 detected all three NIC's in the PC I'm setting up as a firewall. Bravo!! But how come that I still have to manually edit modules.conf to tell about it?

QT problem...

Hi all... I'm trying to compile the QT libs for Koffice. When I run make I get this error: ################### Opus:/usr/local/qt # make cd src/moc; make make[1]: Entering directory `/usr/local/qt/src/moc' g++ -c -I/usr/local/qt/include -Wno-unused -Wno-parentheses -pipe -DNO_DEBUG -O2 -DQT_NO_CODECS -I../../include -I. -o mocgen.o mocgen.cpp make[1]: g++: Command not found make[1]: *** [mocgen.o] Error 127 make[1]: Leaving directory `/usr/local/qt/src/moc' make: *** [moc] Error 2 ############################ Could someone tell me what I'm doing wrong? Better would be if someone could tell where to get the !"$§"! libs already pre-compiled. 8 character passwords?

hey all, fabulously, my notebook decided to screw up and erased my partition table, but by the time i realized, it was already too late. somehow the motherboard addressed the harddrive as CHS, not as LBA anymore, and the next write made the damage final. anyway, no biggie since i have backups, but now i am running a fresh suse 7.0 and somehow there are only 8 character passwords. makes me believe that no md5 is being used... without the use of yast or suseconfig, how can i enable md5 passwords? what package is responsible? thanks, martin [greetings from the heart of the sun]# echo madduck@!#:1:s@\@@@.net -- women who want to be equal to men lack imagination.
