[SLE] best Price for 7.0

I was surprised to learn the SuSE now charges almost twice as much for the full version ( 6 cds). Where is the best price for the full (professional) version? Any information on the upgrade version? Hi. Can anybody inform me about the host file in the /etc directory? I've read this is a alternative of a named server. Could it be possible to put my system name, "wjerljocht" togetter with my current IP number so that I can be found on the WWW, when I'am online? I once had a dialin connection, but if the client wanted to acces my FTP service, he had to enter the assigend IP number instead of my hostname. and could it be chaned "hot", so without rebooting the system?, and if it has to, wich service could be rebooted, to get is running? [SLE] Koffice problems

Hi all, Is anyone out there running Koffice with SuSE 6.3? If so, would you be kind and let me know which Koffice file you are running? And where to find it? I've tried koffice-1.93-0.i386.rpm and koffice-02282000-1.i386.rpm, both give me "failed dependencies" errors. Can anyone give any hints on getting this monster to run? During the bootup process there is a very long pause at the message: Starting Name Service Cache daemon What might be causing that process to take so long? [SLE] KDE 2.0Beta4 -- What else?

Hello, For those of you who have downloaded the KDE 1.93 binary RPM's for SuSE 6.4 from the KDE ftp site, here's my question: What else is necessary to install kde2 assuming I haven't installed any updated libraries or anything like that? I was under the impression that there were some new qt2.2 libs or something like that required, but I didn't see them listed. Does the lib*.rpm there satisfy the dependencies? If not, where do I find the required files. Maybe it's because it's late and I'm tired, but I didn't seem to be able to find a good answer to this on the SuSE or KDE ftp sites. [SLE] Timezones, Systemtime, daylight saving and SAMBA beeing 1 hour off

Hello, yesterday I got involved into a problem at work that affected our SuSE boxes running SAMBA. Since I am a linux advocat, I've been asked by our sysop, but also I found a solution, I realised that I didn't understand the question. ;-) Out machines ran fine until we changed to a timeserver that is used to synchronise time. The problem seems to be the daylight saving, our system time is always CEST (Central European Summer Time). The time is OK on the system. All time stamps (file creation) bear the right time. If we create a file via SAMBA, the time is 1 hour off. The samba FAQ talks about wrong time settings on Windows or misconfiguration of time zones on the Un*x bos. There is a global "time offset" parameter that can be used to fix it. (that works) I found all these timezone Information that I found most confusing, question that remains is how to set the system time in a fashion "I don't care about daylight saving, I got a timeserver that tells me what time it is". And use this time for SAMBA, of course. [SLE] Viewing Greeting Cards in Linux

Hello, I'm writing some FAQ questions for a Greeting Card site. I noticed that there was no Linux info in the FAQ, so I figure I will add it. I could use some help on this though: Flash - How do Linux people use Flash? I don't use it so I don't know. Where do they get the download? MIDI - I never had much success getting my sound cards to work, so I usually do without them. Cresdendo and Windows Media Player are used in the Windows world in MIDI. What do Linux people use? RAM - To view a greeting card that uses sound and animation, Window Users are suggested to have at least 32 RAM . I use SuSE 6.3 and I'm wondering if 32 cuts it with Linux users who use KDE and Netscape. I personally wouldn't want a Linux box using GUIs and not have at least 64 RAM. But I don't want people looking at my FAQ and saying, "O, Windows is suggested to have 32, Linux needs a whopping 64!". Thanks George __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? [SLE] SuSE 7.0 Personal or Professional?

I am currently using SuSe 6.3 and want to upgrade, but not sure which version I want. I want the full version, with everything just as I have with 6.3.
