Sorry because the thing I want to ask has nothing to do with the list, but I have the doubt and is the following: Can I name a Company for example "H&M Linux Productions" using the Linux name in the name of the company? Or do I have to pay something for using the name, or ask someone? Thanks... and sorry again. Is anyone using diald. I am trying to use it to start a dil on demand session but I keep getting the following error: diald[6426]: start sl1: SIOCADDRT: No such device Slip is compiled into the kernel. Has anyone seen a SuSE-specific implementation of libguile anywhere? I'm trying to find an rpm file that I can install it from, or even a .tgz file I can make an rpm file out of. [SLE] username@bin:~> after login, why?

Hi everyone; I have never seen this before SuSE 6.4. Whenever I login I get username@bin:~> instead of username@hostname:~> for both root and others. When I used YaST1 for installation, it set the right hostname that I gave to the system. But, now I installed with YaST2 and I get the wrong hostname. I checked /etc/hosts, /etc/HOSTNAME and everything is right everywhere. The only think I suspected was when I check the shells in User Manager, they all have /bin/..., which I didn't mess up. Now the problem is all programs report the hostname of my machine as "bin" which isn't right. This annoys me e.g. when installing new tarballs or programs saying unknown host. This's standalone machine. Does anyone know where "bin" is hardwired into SuSE 6.4 system? [SLE] Encrypted Filesystem

Has anyone been able to set up a loopback encrypted filesystem? I read Loopback-Encrypted-Filesystem-HOWTO. It refers to kernel patches at ftp.kerneli.org/pub/kerneli -- there is a crypto dierctory there, but it is empty. Same situation at ftp.kernel.org. Also, SuSE seems to have alerady done some of the steps outlined in the HOWTO. Hello I just picked up an Epson Stylus Color 740 to replace my ancient Canon BJ-200. Got everything installed and running OK in win98, but it doesn't seem to want to recognize anthing in Linux. I downloaded a Ghostscript configuration file (stc740p.upp) and installed it using the apsfilter SETUP program. (It came with redhat printer db files, but they aren't of any use to me.) I then hand edited the printcap file to assign lp, lp-mono, etc. I printed a simple text file and --- nothing. The job showed in the queue for a few seconds and then disappeared. Never saw any reaction that indicated the printer ever got any data. The printer is connected through the parallel port /dev/lp0 The bootup message shows that lp0 is using parport, and seems to detect the printer on the parallel port - at least it prints a message properly identifying the printer. To see if the port was blocked, I tried catting a small test file directly to /dev/lp0 and ....nothing. I reconnected the old Canon printer and tried again. The file went through OK, so the port is up and alive. Anybody have any ideas? [SLE] keep getting a signal 11

Anyone know why I might be getting a signal 11 on a variety of programs? I've been trying to do a variety of things such as gcc and lynx and I always get a signal 11 whenever I try to do something. I'm currently using suse6.4 with a i386 kernel version 2.2.14 (0) running on a 486 (586 upgrade chip). [SLE] Apache %#$@#@!

As you all know, I have been trying to get Apache running for some time. About 3 months ago, I finally got it to work with some Perl scripts that I wanted to use for some dynamic content. I'll be a walrus if I cant get to work the same way twice. I lost the HD that the old server was running on about 2 weeks ago. Now, I cant even get a simple SSI perl counter to run. I have followed all the docs, how-tos, you name it. Nothing works. I keep getting this.... [an error occurred while processing this directive] What?? But the index.html that is installed during the apache install works fine. I even matched all the properties with the default test script. Basically, the script I am trying to run is readable, writeable, DELETABLE by everyone and their brother, but it still wont run. I have set all the paths, httpd.conf parameters, loaded the perl mod and anything else any documentation has told me to do. I think its safe to say that Apache is not (should not) ready for the commercial deployment. I even got these scripts to run under BeOS and Jaws for cryin out loud (VERY slow).
