[SLE] Matrox Marvell G200-TV, can it run X?

Hello Folks, I'm going to install 6.3 on a machine with a Matrox Marvel G200TV on a friends machine. I have searched various sites like XFree86 and SuSE to find if the card will work. The SuSE database has a status of unknown and I can't seem to get to the card list at Xfree86. The Matrox site says its a Mystique G200 with their TV stuff added in. I don't care about the TV stuff. I would like the computer to run X at 1280x1024. It is for an disgruntled AIX end user (uses a 42T all day long..) who would like to experiment with Linux in general. I would like to know if X will work before attempting an installation. I want Linux to look good, you know what I mean. I'm trying to get an individual to see the light. This individuals current unix experience is not the most enlightening. Linux on a PII 400 with a udma-66 drive and a 128MB of ram would make Linux/unix look like the ultimate OS and environment compared to a 1994 42T with 8 bit color. I'm running a Millennium G200 very well at 1490x1117 @80Hz. Much better X than the 43P that I use. Does anybody have a Marvel or Mystique anything running X? Is it safe to say any Matrox with the G200 chip set would use the XFree86_SVGA server? I thought this was old news? I believe that NT 4.0 is rated C2 secure, but only in a specific configuration. The catch about those security ratings and linux is that I believe someone has to pay to get the OS evaluated. [SLE] xfontsel hangs up

I've made some changes to the FontPaths in XF86Config which seemed to work fine, and have been in effect for a couple of weeks. But I just tried starting xfontsel, and it hangs up with the message ``Processing fonts'' and no fonts displayed. It just sits there eating up CPU time. Does anyone have advice on how to track down this problem? [SLE] iceWM 1.0 problem.

LenZ or anyone else who can answer this .. I woke up this morning to a piece of mail saying there were new iceWM packages...and since I started using it about 2 weeks ago..I thought this was cool. I downloaded the packages..had not modified the system since install..I have installed nothing else. I installed these 2 packages and after that I had to check the bios for something else and I rebooted. When I came back into Linux and logged in all my directories had been moved into just one of the directories..they weren't copied..but completely moved..all of them.. I am thinking it is just a script error, but I need confirmation of it. It didn't do any real harm. I just tarred all of them and then put them back in their original spots. [SLE] Is Java the right one?

Hi all, Here's the deal... got a guy that wants a database written. It should be able to run on Netscrape/IE on either Linux or W$9X without having two versions. This program should be able to run on a single system, ie not online. Questions::: Is this possible? And would Java (or one of the free Java's) be the right thing to use. Any ideas would be helpful! [SLE] Yet another char-major-missing

Hi all, Does anyone know what SuSE is using char-major-62 for? It is not listed in modules.conf but is listed as local/experimental in /usr/src/Documentation/devices.txt(tex) so I was wondering if it was usb support or something So why is modprobe looking for it, did I break something when I did the recompile? [SLE] running a script as another user

I need to setup a script to start a program at bootup. The program has it's own user account and need to be run under that user's UID. What I plane to do is create a script names, say 'server', that is placed inside of the /etc/rc.d directory that will call another script, say 'runserver', which will run the program. I would like the script 'runserver to be executed under the user account created for the server. How would I do that? The reason for the two scripts is that the 'runserver' will not exit until after the program exist. The program does not do anything like create a lock file or create a file with it's PID that I can check to see if it is running. The 'runserver' will first create a lock file, execute the server, and once the server exits, it will delete the lock file and exit. [SLE] building Apache modules

I am trying to build an Apache module. I have SuSE 6.1 and installed the updated Apache 1.3.6 from SuSE's FTP server. The apxs Perl script appears to not have been built properly. At the beginning there are a bunch assignments for CFG_* variables with the comment # substituted via Makefile.tmpl Most are assigned an empty string, including the name of the linker program. Any ideas how I can configure it properly or what values should go in there?
