I'm running SuSE 6.1 with KDE, so I guess some of all this (especially XFree) could be a bit different... First of all, I installed Linux using Yast v0.997.1 . Here's what I did: -The ATI 3D Rage Pro uses the Mach64 server, so let's install it! >Go to the 'xsrv -Several X servers' menu in Yast >Add the 'xmach64 -Mach64 server' -Next, I used SaX to configure everything. It automatically uses the xmach64 server we just installed, so there shouldn't be too much problems here... If you don't have SaX, you can also configure everything with X86Config, and when asked, just choose the new xmach64 server. Is there any way to get the demo/home user version of Arkeia to back up a networked linux box ? I have two boxen, the machine with the DAT drive running Arkeia server is fine. I can browse the other box but Arkeia reports no files to backup over the nfs link - fair enough, I think it says somewhere in the docs that nfs is not supported in the home version, so how about smb or coda for instance ? [SuSE Linux] umounting smbmount'ed drives during halt

I have no trouble mounting, over a network, windows directories with smbmount. I also have no trouble umounting these same directories, either from the command line or with commands in a script, run by root. However, when I shutdown my computer with a network drive mounted, either with halt or reboot, the shutdown process always hangs when it attempts to umount the file system. (The halt script uses umount -a). If I put more explicit commands at the start of the halt script, before any processes are terminated, it hangs anyway. It is behaving as if once the shutdown process is activated, umounting the smbmount'ed drives is impossible. [SuSE Linux] Getting RealAudio working

I'm so close! Aargh! I've installed RealPlayer 5.0 and on its own it works fine. But I can't get Netscape to play stuff automatically. ie: when I click on a link to a .ram file, the realplayer launches, but does not get sent the file telling it where to find the datastream. If I download that file separately and invoke rvplayer with it, it works perfectly. It looks like it might actually be a Netscape rather than a realplayer problem: Netscape seems not to be passing downloaded files to helper applications. All the help files say just select the helper application, nothing about giving it extra parameters if you're just giving it a file. I tried 0.000000 on the offchance but of course it didn't work. Netscape 4.61 BTW. [SuSE Linux] True Type Fonts

Hello Everyone, One of my clients uses a special windows True Type font for their logo. How can I get this into Star Office. Are there any utilities out there that can convert this into Linux, or at least to a type 1 PS. I think it's a good idea, but that isn't really saying much (!). On the other hand, they are starting to shift thier focus more to the international market. I also agree with a previous post on this thread concerning dialect, and I recognize those pitfalls as well. In a fit of arrogance (stay with me, now), I'm going to assume that most (=>50%) of us do not use English as our first language, and that of the <50% of us who do use English as our first language, we are mostly American. Wouldn't it make sense then to rewrite the manual in an American Dialect? Conversely, if my estimates are off and, say, Australians buy more copies of SuSE Linux than Americans, then perhaps it should be written in an Australian Dialect...
