I am having problems getting Postgres working at all. Can you give me some help in getting it installed? I am trying to figure it out using the files in /usr/doc/packages/postgres/, but haven't had much luck getting things working. [SuSE Linux] LIBDIR doesn't work in SuSE 5.3 ?

As I am compiling some libs and need to add the LIBDIR ( - have your system administrator add LIBDIR to `/etc/ld.so.conf'), in /etc/ld.so.conf file, I keep seeing this error after setting the command: line 1ldconfig: warning: can't open LIBDIR (No such file or directory), skipping ld.so.conf looks like this /usr/X11R6/lib /usr/i486-linux/lib /usr/i486-linux-libc6/lib=libc6 /usr/i486-linuxaout/lib /usr/local/lib /usr/openwin/lib LIBDIR This worked fine under 5.2. Anyone know what's the problem in 5.3? When trying to start up postgres for the first time (using the suse support data base PostgresSQL: First steps as a guide) "rcpostgres start u -postgres createuser denis " or I also tried "creatuser root" I get the following error message: connection to database 'template1' failed. connectDB() failed: is the postmaster running and accepting connections at 'UNIX SOCKET' on port '5432'? createuser: database access failed Can anyone help me out here? [SuSE Linux] wuftp/tcp problem

I can connect to wuftp on linux from my winNT4 box using a modem connection, but I see no directory listing . I'm using WSftp and have no other problems on NT. There must be some config that's missing for ftpd or wu-ftpd. Netscape connects to the apache server and transfers fine. When I connect using a dos window and ftp I get connected but the prompt sits there for about 5 minutes before the welcome message comes up. after that I can log in and transfer files normally. Telnet is also slow connecting. Anyone got this working, and help appreciated. [SuSE Linux] Dialing problem

I have installed SuSe 5.3. I have an ISDN Teles 16.3 non PnP card. I'am using wxs.nl as my ISP which has dynamic ip addresses. I have everything configured with YaST, and it seems to work all fine, when I dial into my ISP server the first time. But when I dial a second time the connection is made and terminated after 2 -3 seconds. I have to reboot the system, before I can establish a normal connection again. What is wrong with my configuration?
