[SuSE Linux] popper with APOP under SuSE 5.3

Hi all! Does anyone use the popper 2.53 with enabled APOP under S.u.S.E. linux 5.3. I have compiled it sucessfully (linked with GDBM), but the popauth -user gives: /etc/pop.auth: unable to open POP authorization DB and strace gives: open("/etc/pop.auth", O_RDWR) = 3 fstat(3, {st_mode=S_IFREG|0600, st_size=1536, ...}) = 0 flock(3, LOCK_EX|LOCK_NB) = -1 EAGAIN (Try again) close(3) = 0 It looks like some f-locking error. Could anyone help me? Yikes, you're right. It's not there. They sure don't make opatch easy to get ahold of. I'm running SuSe 5.3 with Wmaker as my Window Manager... When I make entries into the Kalendar app it didn't save them... I got several QFile::writeBlock : File not open errors followed by a chmod /opt/kde/share/apps/kalendar/bainssu.kal: No such file or directory. so I logged in as root created a file and set the user access accordingly. When I start Kalendar I now get... QFile::writeBlock: File not open In file tools/qgarray.cpp, line 214 Out of memory I'm running nothing but xterm... any clues much appreciated.. Hi, Last week I was asking if blender was in the SUSE 5.3 distrib. I got answers saying no . In fact It is !! It is written on the box on the web and ... it is on the CD. I beleive it is called the opatch for Oracle. I did look there. My complaint is that the updates are not very up to date. :) But, opatch was what I needed! Thank you Bill! [SuSE Linux] When Suse 6.0 on FTP server?

Hi all, I was just wondering if anyone can tell me when Suse 6.0 will be available on the ftp server. I am about to install Linux onto my PC at work and would like to put 6.0 on it instead of 5.2 which I currently have at home. Another question, what is the difference between the commercial version of Suse and the version you can get from the ftp site? I currently have the commercial version of 5.2 but was only going to get 6.0 from the ftp site. [SuSE Linux] Nice spreadsheet application available for free

WingZ has released their pro version at the 3.11 revision level for free. This is an excellent spreadsheet with many advanced features and runs quite well on suse. Its a binary archive so you do not have to build it whatsoever. Only thing required is to name some environmental variables that provide the program its location and some libs. The program is available for downloat at metalabs.unc.edu (formerly sunsite.unc.edu) Search on wingz. BTW, it has an interesting interface with lots of tools and stuff. Also has some interesting internet features. Check it out. -- Michael E. [SuSE Linux] ttys0-com: under DOS, /dev/modem & cua1

[SuSE Linux] ttys0-com: under DOS, /dev/modem & cua1 I run S.u.S.E. Linux 5.3.0 on a "SOLO" 2500 Laptop from Gateway. I had to completely reinstall yesterday. Now neither MINICOM nor KPPP can accessmy internal, pcmcia modem. They just "PUT A LOCK" in /dev/modem, and kppp freezes up and can't be closed or killed without "shutdown -r now" I do my duty with YAST, Remove all contents of /etc/ppp/options, I put my dial up data in "hosts/conf"... what am I NOT doing right? If I must link some thing to some thing, what are those things and what is the command, ( I am an abject nerwbie, and my understanding of links and such is nil). I reinstalling system their was a section demanding they link ttys0 to dev/modem. And my connects with my previous install always took 5 or 6 tries before pppd wouldn't drop, and the connections never went beyond 3800, and my modem and dial up are both 57600 baud.
