Strange problem with rendering and reaction of web page

Some time ago, might be half a year all was OK. Some update in Leap 15.6 or the change to Leap 15.6 could have introduced the problem. I have a web page with a file index.html in which references are pointing to files, all in the same folder as index.html; a picture and a number of video files (.mp4). Css buttons either show the video or start a download. There is some css in index.html defining buttons with white characters and colored backgrounds. Also some text is indicated as white characters and colored backgrounds; different colors. When I use http:// to access this page, on a different apache server on a Tumbleweed server, all is displayed normal and the button used to play the video works as expected. I can position the location in the video from where to play the video. However using https:// to access the page the background of the characters is not colored and when I play one of the videos I am unable to select a position in the video to play from. It skips to the last position in the video. Some other videos give errors and do not play at all. The error shows something like: "No video with supported layout and MIME type found". In Firefox I used Page Source to download the content of the page, index.html. In both cases and apart from the obvious differences in the URLs pointing to the files they are the same. I should mention that I also used Microsoft Edge to access these pages and the same difference/problem is present. I am puzzled. TW - Strange Gtk App Behavior After Dup - Dark Themes Are Wonky

All, On Tumbleweed, I've had problems with Gtk apps. Since install, some Gtk apps like Gnome-Sudoku do not see the initial mouse click on the app. You have to click twice for the app to see the mouse click (likely GDK not being able to figure out what window to route the click to so it is discarded). This may be related to the issue with the openSUSE builds of Firefox and Thunderbird not seeing the middle-mouse scroll inputs unless the FF/TB window is focused as the top-level window. (the binary download from Mozilla.org works fine and does not exhibit this behavior) The workaround for the openSUSE Firefox and Thunderbird builds is to set the environment variable GDK_CORE_DEVICE_EVENTS=1. This doesn't fix gnome-sudoku initial mouse click behavior. After zypper dup last night, the gnome-sudoku app using the Nordic-darker theme has flip-flopped which window it messes up. Before update, the playing board was fine, but the number-pad popup was fuzzed out. After update it is reversed, the playing board is washed out, cell lines gone, etc.., but magically the number-pad popup is now perfectly themed. (the Nordic-darker theme is current from 10/10, two days ago, from gnome-look.org. The prior version of the theme from September showed the same behavior before updating to the latest version. We pipewire users can EASILY get better sounds!

Hello, I've been trying to make a filter for a few months now, in order to improve the sound I get from Pipewire, which has improved dramatically since version 1.0.0. Today, I thought I'd finally managed to get a sound I was satisfied with, so I took the filter off to check the quality of the sound I was getting from my own filter, and was astonished to hear the sound. The sound through my own filter was not so much different, and the only difference was that there was no reverbation in my own filter. So, I went to the doctor for my regular check-up, and while I was waiting to be seen, I suddenly had the idea that "pipewire was using the plugins I had installed to create my filter". When I got home and checked the source, as I had suspected, it had been. On the other hand, I also found that pulseaudio does not have this function. BTW, when I installed the lv2 (lv2-SmartAmp) plugin for guitar sounds, which I had only installed the vst3 plugin for, and played it, the sound quality clearly improved. What I don't understand is that I have installed plugins to improve the sound of string, wind and percussion instruments, but they are all vst3 plugins, and I have created my own filter using vst3 plugins. But there is no change in the sound without the filter... (_ _? Anyway, I created my own filter in the following way, and I used synthesize to incorporate filters that improve the sound quality of various instruments, along with filters that enhance the bass, but this seems to be the same as the sound source processing that pipewire does. synrthesize --> equalize --> 7.1 virtualize --> reveb So I think it would be good to install the lv2 plugins that matches each sink, but I have installed too many lv2 plugins, so I don't know which plug-in matches other than the guitar. However, I think it's worth a try, so please give it a go. By the way, when checking the effect of installing plugins, be sure to execute $ systemctl --user restart pipewire pipewire-pulse wireplumber. I think that people who like jazz and live performances will be fine with this setup (listening on the same floor as the performers), but I like the hall tone we get when listening in a concert hall or church, so I make and use a reverb filter. If there are any people who want it, I will upload the filter, so please let me know. Upgrade to 15.6 problem when uninstalling one package

I just finished an attempt to UPGRADE my ASUS laptop from 15.5 to 15.6 and the result is a mess! During the installation process I did run into one problem (see below) where YaST was unable to remove one package and I had to choose the IGNORE option in order to proceed with the rest of the installation. This problem continues to persist. After installation and reboot the laptop was able to bring up the KDE Wayland desktop. All, Devs I see Thunderbird 131.0-1.1 is scheduled to install on TW. Just a few days ago we had a thread on Arch where that package was pulled from the repository because it is a Mozilla Testing Only release and wasn't intended to be generally distributed. See thread "thunderbird 131.0 pulled from testing" on 10/2/2024. The Arch packager was a bit surprised too. Just thought I would pass this along in case the same packaging a "testing" vs "full release" needs to be dealt with hear as well. If you update, your profile will be modified, but here you can downgrade to 130.x and start thunderbird --allow-downgrade to undo the changes to your profile (and pray it works...) -- David C. boinc-manager GUI no longer loads

I am not sure if this is a Boinc problem or a Linux/QT problem. I suspect the latter, but who knows? Cross-posted on BOINC forums at UC Berkeley. OS: Linux openSUSE 15.6 Kernel version: 6.4.0 QT version: 5.15.12 BOINC-manager command line: kdesu -u boinc /usr/bin/boincmgr Boinc is running as a systemd service, username boinc. That commandline has been working properly until minutes ago, after a kernel update and reboot. Hello, I strongly recommend that you upgrade to kernel 6.11.2 while leaving 6.11.0 in place. I think that kernel 6.11.2 is Linus's final ultimatum for nvidia users. There is no way out now.....
