libdvdcss2 not required for DVD playback anymore?

I was working with my Compaq nc-6400 laptop yesterday (openSUSE TW) and I installed the "Packman Essentials" repository also "libdvdcss2" from the following links I have documented. Packman Essentials -> "https://en.opensuse.org/Additional_package_repositories" I am seeing now that the openSUSE TW portal located here "https://en.opensuse.org/Portal:Tumbleweed" has maybe a better link for "Packman Essentials" under the "Multimedia Codecs" section. Than what I have been using currently. My main question here is perhaps the following: Is the "libdvdcss2" repository needed for DVD playback anymore? libdvdcss2 -> https://forums.opensuse.org/showthread.php/523474-Multimedia-Guide-for-open… I ended up removing the "libdvdcss2" repository (for some reason) then (I am not sure if it was necessary) Powercycled the laptop. VLC media player loaded the movie DVD perfectly with no notable problems/issues detected. How can this be? I made certain and saw with "zypper lr" that there is absolutely no "libdvdcss2" repository left on the computer. Is it not necessary anymore for DVD/CD playback? At this time the computer is unbootable due to a bug in the "5.12.0-1-pae kernel" but ugh I would like to get your thoughts even if brief on this maybe. Thanks

I'm getting ready to upgrade my desktop (TDE) to the newest stable release, using zypper dup. Should I include --solver-focus=Update or leave it to the --solver-focus=Job default? Leslie -- openSUSE Leap 15.2 x86_64

All, After nearly 20 years on this list, seem my ISP has fsck'ed up its mail servers and I am no longer getting list messages, according to Per due to a 521 service not available from my ISP. (WTF?) Any way, I do get direct mails and I do get an occasional mail from the list. Just understand I'm not ignoring the list. I've asked a(a)o.o for log entries so I can prove to my ISP they have a problem -- terrible service now... Joy... -- David C. Rankin, J.D.,P.E.

How to gather "saved kernel logs" information for bug report?

I am wondering if it would be possible to maybe get a couple of pointers on what to do next as far as a bug report. I don't know if it is correct to ask more questions in Bugzilla at this point. First off the bug report is here: -> https://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1185542 My computer was able to boot fine with kernel 5.11.16-1-pae I was asked to install kernel-default for testing purposes 5.12.1-1.g9bb8944-default which I did. kernel-default failed to boot. So now 3 kernels are installed/listed in the bootmenu as follows. 1. 5.12.1-1.g9bb8944-default 2. 5.12.0-2-pae 3. 5.12.0-1-pae kernel 5.11.16-1-pae <- Is now gone. Computer is unable to boot to splash screen with any of the 3 above listed kernels. It makes little/some sense since in /etc/zypp/zypp.conf - line 554 multiversion.kernel the kernel 5.11.16-1-pae must have been removed <- I do not understand though because when I installed KOTD the 5.11.16-1-pae was the running kernel. Hi, I just reviewed a page of literature specified for SUSE, it's concerning "15 Installing Multiple Kernel Versions". In the top right corner the page states the following. Applies to SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 12 SP4 https://documentation.suse.com/sles/12-SP4/html/SLES-all/cha-tuning-multike… I was asked to complete a survey which I agreed to do so. it asked about my use of SUSE products which I ticked "no" to (since openSUSE was not allowed). It was interesting to me because the documentation really was quite good and informative for my openSUSE TW version. Is it looked down/frowned on to be using openSUSE and/or occasionally reading SUSE related documents if a websearch shows? They seem to somewhat touch base very closely in a way between the two of the distributions. I am not sure yet about if SUSE Linux Enterprise Desktop is more closely related to openSUSE Leap 15.2 than TW. I'm just quite curious about this. Thanks
