all of a sudden my displaymanager isn't starting properly anymore...
Yesterday morning all was fine, since yesterday afternoon display-
manager.service doesn't start properly after boot anymore.
All I get is a black screen, and a mouse pointer.
Then, I restart X with ctrl-alt-backspace, or login through ssh or from a text
console and restart the display-manager.service, and all is well.
I already checked - the xdm and sddm packages have not changed since some time
in the first two weeks in APRIL.
A bit more detail:
I'm running 15.2 with the KDE/Plasma repositories from OBS active and
prioritized so that they always override the stock repos.
I'm using nis and autofs to get the user home directories.
I used systemctl edit to make sure that display manager gets started only
after the networks, nis, and autofs are all up & running.
There is nothing suspicious in the journal, or in /var/log/Xorg.0.log... and
like i said, once I restart the displaymanager all is fine.
Anyone got any ideas?

I read with great interest the entire recent thread "Possible malware?"
and tried to make sure that I set my firewall (firewalld) to block all
ssh connections from outside my home LAN. My ISP provides access via
cable modem and I set up my own router.
There are 3-4 laptops running opensuse 15.x (and 2 android phones) on my
home network (adresses configured with DHCP) and I log in periodically
via ssh (as user, not root) to the other computers to fix various issues.
Via the yast2 firewall configuration I set only the "public", "internal"
and "home" zones to have ssh as an allowed service. The "external" and
other zones do not have ssh allowed.
I read quite a few articles on the firewall configuration, but I am not
sure that I set it right. Is there anything else I should do? Thanks,
could someone please help to unsubscribe from the
"opensuse-bugs" mailing list?
I tried sending mail to opensuse-bugs-leave as well
as to opensuse-bugs+unsubscribe, but except for a
moderation mail, I got no answer.
Note that I am receiving all opensuse-bugs mails
twice, so maybe I am registered somewhere I am not
really aware of.
I use firefox browser only occasionally, because Pale Moon fits my
requirements much better.
Unfortunately Pale Moon is becoming unusable for a number of web sites,
Therefore I installed the newest ESR version of firefox, 78.10.x esr.
Apart from that I don't like it very much it loads youtube and some
other sites smoother than Pale Moon.
But there are some "features" I cannot accomodate to, and would like to
change if possible.
1. How could I restore the old selection behavior in the url bar, that
one click inserts the cursor into the url, two clicks selects all. I
don't want to use three clicks.
I found a hack here:
I applied it to my omni.ja, and it changes selection behavior except
the selected by double click text
is not put in the primary selection list, and can not be pasted with
the middle mouse click.
I would appreciate if someone could help me to restore that behavior
2. I really miss a button that clears the url bar, so that I could use
a middle click to paste text
into the address bar without selecting and deleting before pasting.
3. Is it possible to restore multiple tab rows while they remain
I found some css hacks to restore multi row tab bar, but then the tabs
cannot be rearranged.
4. How could I get rid of the annoying update notification popup?
I do know these are not opensuse specific questions, but this list has
experienced users who might
help solve these issues.
Thank you in advance,
Has anyone successfully used Microsoft Teams on 15.2/KDE? I have tried
both with a browser and installing the Teams app, but neither works. I
hate to have to use Windows to run it. I have no problems with Skype,
Meet or Jitse, just Teams.
I have connection between my computer and my server using rsa key. It
works perfectly with no password for ssh, scp, sftp...
but it don't works for "mc" in sftp mode (I have to give the -very long-
I have the following error when I try and update TW at the moment. Is this just one of those instances where you wait for a couple of days for it to fix itself or is my system missing something?
