[opensuse] running wordpress on Leap 15.1

Hi all, I'm running wordpress on two Leap 15.1 systems, but (from the built in health check in WP 5.4): "Your site is running an older version of PHP (7.2.5) PHP is the programming language used to build and maintain WordPress. Newer versions of PHP are faster and more secure, so staying up to date will help your site’s overall performance and security. The minimum recommended version of PHP is 7.3." I can't simply add the obs phpo7 and extensions/php7 repos, since several extensions in there don't work properly right now - namely the redisd, memcached, and geoip ones. Any ideas? No, not going to build php from source locally. [opensuse] command line printing question

Hello: I have a pdf file which is A5 paper size in landscape mode. When I open it in a pdf viewer (acroread, kdpf, okular) it is shown in landscape mode. pdfinfo shows: Producer: GPL Ghostscript 9.15 CreationDate: Wed Apr 8 23:20:35 2020 ModDate: Wed Apr 8 23:20:35 2020 Tagged: no Pages: 1 Encrypted: no Page size: 596 x 421 pts (A5) File size: 43191 bytes Optimized: no PDF version: 1.5 I would like to print this file, using lp or lpr command, onto the upper half of a portrait A4 paper, that is the A5 file is placed in landscape mode on a portrait A5 paper's upper half. Whatever I try, the document is always printed A5 portrait mode on the A4 paper with the document's lower edge close to the bottom of the A4 paper. I tried these commands, and all gives exactly the same result: lpr -P printer -o media=a4 file.pdf lpr -P printer -o media=a5 -o orientation-requested=4 file.pdf lpr -P printer -o media=a4 -o orientation-requested=4 file.pdf lpr -P printer -o media=a5 file.pdf lp -d printer -o media=a4 -o orientation-requested=4 file.pdf lp -d printer -o media=a5 -o orientation-requested=4 file.pdf lp -d printer -o media=a5 -o landscape file.pdf I'm afraid it's something trivial I'm missing. When I print the file from Okular: - setting paper size A4 portrait: the file is printed in landscape mode to the center of the A4 page (no to the upper half) - setting paper size A4 landscape: the file is printed in landscape mode relative to the A4 page and is scaled up to fit the A4 page - setting paper size A5 landscape: the file is printed in portrait mode (rotated 90 degrees to the left) and is scaled down - setting paper size A5 portrait: the file is printed in landscape mode to the center of the A4 page and is scaled down. [opensuse] Set static IP adress for some domain

Dear opensuse users, I'm running the latest opensuse leap 15.1 just today I ran into a situation where I needed to point a domain to a specific IP adress. If I'm on my windows client I just update the hosts file 112.202.123.179 somedomain.com copy that file to /windows/system32/drivers/etc open a terminal and run 'ipconfig /flushdns' and voila ... whatever way I try to access the domain, e.g. do a ping or visit the domain in a web browser it points to the IP adress defined in the hosts file. How can I do this on an opensuse box? there's also a /etc/hosts file but it doesn't seem to get picked up? there's also a DNS running on the box (same like on the windows computer) but I just want this specific domain to have a specific static IP address I've already looked into /etc/hosts.conf ... /etc/resolver.conf ... /etc/nsswitch.conf ... or whatsoever ... Still without any luck at all ;) Is it really that difficult? [opensuse] Print/scan on Epson working now

Not sure what made this work, but my Epson WP4530 all-in-one is now printing and scanning. (TW.) I have done the following: Set a static IP address in the printer, to what it was under a different Linux system some time ago. 192.168.1.26 This was done thru the control panel of the printer, iaw Epson directions. Open a user console and enter xsane. (This previously said could not find scanner.) Scanner came to life and worked. Found print choice of Epson in Libre Office and used printer to print. Tried XSane from icon on desktop--worked. Shut down to power off, then restarted. Print and scan still works. Hello, since yesterday or so, my xrandr script do not work anymore. Was there some update that could explain that? the script is: xrandr --newmode "1920x1080_60.00" 173.00 1920 2048 2248 2576 1080 1083 1088 1120 -hsync +vsync xrandr --addmode VIRTUAL1 1920x1080_60.00 #xrandr --fb 1920x1080_60.00 --dpi 96 --output eDP-1 --pos 0x0 --scale-from 1920x1080 --same-as VIRTUAL1 xrandr --fb 1920x1080_60.00 --dpi 96 --output eDP1 --pos 0x0 --scale-from 1920x1080 --same-as VIRTUAL1 used to give me full HD 1920x10810 display on 1366x768 15.5" display. Only the last line stopped working, letting me with my data in a reduced windows running the line by hand gives the same result any idea? [opensuse] ISC bind/dhcpd with dyn updates -- deletes RR but then doesn't add a new one??

All, This is another strange one. (slightly long message with config and logs -- but just one simple issue) I have run bind 9.9 and dhcpd with dynamic zone updates (using TSIG) for nearly 20 years (18 to be exact, and with the TSIG whenever they came along). I'm now seeing funny behavior (and this may be related to how the DHCID TXT has is calculated). What is happening is my sever hands out the IP to the client, and then searches and deletes the record for both forward and reverse zone -- and then doesn't add a forward or reverse zone so name resolution of the client getting the address fails (I see that same behavior in some Linux and some Windows hosts -- but others work fine??) -- that's a new one. (of course all this shows up After a power-outage today that exhausting the UPS so everything came down, server + ~ 25 mixed windows/Linux/phone/tablet hosts) After the server was up and running, take the recent boot of a win7 box hostname sffxe, The TSIG authorization works fine and the zone files are updated removing the IP (which if the IP changed is fine) -- but then doesn't add a new record to the forward or reverse zone. The "update-conflict-detection off;" setting just tells dhcpd to ignore conflicts in the DHCID TXT record and update the record anyway. I gave it a day and then commented it out. But the hosts that are have their RR removed and no new ones written are actual computers -- not mobile devices, and the computers haven't gone anywhere. So I kick this to the brain trust to see if anybody has better insight to how this can happen than I do -- I'm obviously not doing too well with this one :) -- David C. [opensuse] VLC doesn't display video by default

I have tried openGL, and then XVideo (XCB) which worked. It was an Intel CPU with NVidia card, and now it is AMD Ryzen 5 CPU with "Radeon RX 580 Armor 4G OC" graphics. [opensuse] Network bonding - Where the documentation should be?

Hello, I'm going to set up aggregation of two network cards of single server to get better connectivity (load balancing, fault tolerance). I found SDB wiki article https://en.opensuse.org/SDB:Bonding which seems pretty outdated. Shouldn't it be rather deleted as there is appropriate section in <https://doc.opensuse.org/documentation/leap/reference/html/ book.opensuse.reference/cha-network.html#sec-network-iface-bonding> ? The settings seems pretty straightforward, should be fine, I hope. :-) Does anyone have experience with this? Any possible pitfalls to be aware of? As Leap 15.1 is very similar to SLE 15 SP 1, I wonder why it's documentation <https:// documentation.suse.com/sle-ha/15-SP1/html/SLE-HA-all/cha-ha-netbonding.html> seems to be so different on first look...?
