[opensuse] eduroam on opensuse

I was talking to another linux user and they asked if I had xwininfo installed. I didn't, but installed it and now the eduroam script works in kde. What is in gnome that wasn't in kde for it to work? [opensuse] got eduroam working

I was poking around on eduroam.org to get a clue about how to get eduroam working on opensuse. One of their pages went to some documentation for gnome. I have been using kde, so I installed the gnome desktop, logged in to gnome and tried the same script as before and it worked this time. Once I went through the initial setup, it now works in kde as it just needed to set up some certs and such with network manager. But there is one caveat: not the current file it is transmitting. I was sending a backup with partition images from one machine to another, and I interrupted it. Then I noticed that the directory shrinked in size: the 160000MiB file of which it had sent half of it, was deleted on interrupt, and will have to be sent in full again. [opensuse] Can't get rid of additional address

I recently created an additional address for my NIC eth0, in Yast. While I was able to create it, I can't get rid of it. The delete button works until I leave and restart the LAN config in Yast. Here is what ifcfg-eth0 shows: BOOTPROTO='static' IPADDR='172.16.0.10/24' NETMASK='' NETWORK='' STARTMODE='auto' DHCLIENT_SET_DEFAULT_ROUTE='yes' IPADDR_1='10.0.0.1/0' LABEL_1='test' ZONE='home' MTU='0' As you can see, the test address 10.0.0.1/0 exists. [opensuse] How to make dolphin save sftp password?

Hi, here on OS 15.1 I often use dolphin to connect via sftp to my servers. It asks me for the password, and then it remembers it until I log out of my local KDE or reboot the local machine. There is no check-box "remember password" or similar in the password dialog, only the field to enter it. I would like to have it saved in KWallet, and this is installed and running, but empty... [opensuse] 15.2 -- What is pipewire and how do I disable it?

All, I look at 15.2 and I have this pipewire process at the top of top. I didn't start it, nor did I ask for it to be started. I check the systemd services and there is no pipewire service -- but that process is running away. I know it is some type of media service I don't want or need. How do I turn it off? -- David C. [opensuse] 15.2 Firefox dependence on pipewire is a BUG, user targets are bad news

Wolfgang, all, Removing the unneeded pipewire from openSUSE 15.2 BREAKS Firefox, e.g. $ firefox XPCOMGlueLoad error for file /usr/lib64/firefox/libxul.so: libpipewire-0.3.so.0: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory Couldn't load XPCOM. Further, loading pipewire as a per-user systemd target is the wrong way to go. That effectively removes control of the process completely unless you want to decipher a 120-character XDG_ENVIRONMENT... command line to interface with the process. Starting pipewire through /etc/xdg/autostart/systemd with duplicate link through /etc/systemd/system/user is a bad idea. On 15.2 that autostarts the process when it isn't needed. The fact that removing the unwanted pipewire BREAKS firefox is ridiculous. pipewire is NOT a dependency of firefox in any way. Firefox should run on 15.2 regardless of whether pipewire is installed or not. This is nuts... -- David C.
