[opensuse] Ongoing suspend resume oddities

In order to work around problems with suspend to ram, I switched to using hybrid suspend. But upon resuming on one occasion I got this message on the screen (which was replicated in the journal): Uhhuh. NMI received for unknown reason 2d on CPU 0. Do you have a strange power saving mode enabled? Dazed and confused, but trying to continue What's happening? Should I use a older different kernel? I am using 4.12.14-lp151.28.36-default #1 SMP Fri Dec 6 13:50:27 UTC 2019 (8f4a495) x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux It's all a fairly standard installation KDE plasma. [opensuse] Hardware Recommendations?

Hi Folks, My 13-year old HP desktop is still working fine, but it's obviously time to retire it before it permanently dies. Also, my wife recently found a bit of luck at the casino and this is the perfect time to upgrade. So I have a couple of questions about hardware compatibility with openSUSE. It looks like the AMD Ryzen cpu's have a bit of an edge over Intel, but has anyone seen compatibility issues? And what about high-res monitors? I'm looking at a UHD (3840 x 2160) monitor, any issues with Leap 15.1? And how about those really wide/curved monitors? Hi, looks, like https://ftp.gwdg.de having some issues in syncing with https:// download.opensuse.org, but I'm still referred to ftp.gwdg.de for some reason. Compare https://download.opensuse.org/repositories/home:/frispete:/blender/ openSUSE_Tumbleweed/x86_64/ with https://ftp.gwdg.de/pub/opensuse/repositories/home:/frispete:/blender/ openSUSE_Tumbleweed/x86_64/ Isn't this a flaw of mirrorbrain, that should cope with such situations properly? Is there anything, that could be done on my side to avoid ftp.gwdg.de for now? [opensuse] Azp-2-It problem

I use Zap-2-It to find TV programming in my area (11778) on Cablevision of Hauppauge. Up to now, when I installed the app, I put in my zip code and my cable supplier, it always came up with a channel list in numerical order, and so on for my cable provider. Now when I start the app, it comes up with ABC, CBS, NBC, no channel numbers, etc. I can reset it by selecting "Change provider or time zone" and then inserting my zip code, and then selecting my cable provider from a list of four. It does not keep this setting--every time I start it, I have to go back to the setup routine. Does anybody know how to get back to the old permanent settings and keeping them? [opensuse] Recommend laptop keyboard

The first laptop I ever owned had a fantastic keyboard, made typing a pleasure. Since then the quality of keyboards has gone ever downward... to the point where I don't think people even know what a good keyboard is. Reviews I've read on laptops over at least the past ten years don't even mention the keyboard. The laptop I have now is only a couple years old, but I'm looking to replace it because the keyboard is so horrible. [opensuse] despite override, mythbackend still requires mysql

I have two new mythtv backend systems. The mythbackend service unit requires mysql: # systemctl cat mythbackend # /usr/lib/systemd/system/mythbackend.service [Unit] Description=MythTV backend service After=network.target mysql.service Requires=mysql.service Wants=apache2.service [Service] Type=simple EnvironmentFile=/etc/sysconfig/mythbackend User=mythtv Group=video [snip] In my case, the database runs on a 3rd system, so to save some memory I don't want to keep it running locally too. I added this override: # /etc/systemd/system/mythbackend.service.d/extra.conf [Unit] After= After=network.target Requires= I've done a 'daemon-reload', yet when I stop mysql, mythbackend is still stopped and when I start mythbackend, I also still get mysql started.
