I have different nvidia cards around also. It only works right using the nvidia drivers. [opensuse] copying .exe to Win 10?

Why can't I copy a downloaded .exe file to Windows 10 on the same drive? I can access the Windows partition from Thunderbird super-user Dolphin, but I mark a file to copy and try to paste in the Windows partition, but it is grayed out. What am I doing wrong? [opensuse] Unwanted IPv6 address - 15.1

Somehow my notebook has managed to acquire an unwanted IPv6 address. It has a /128 prefix and is similar to the one assigned to my firewall. I assumed this happened when I connected the computer directly to the modem, rather than the local network. [opensuse] lvm is dumping core - a lot

Hi guys, I'm finding a lot of this in my logs: Sep 14 21:08:43 akari kernel: lvm[21398]: segfault at 5a ip 00007f1477d7346f sp 00007ffe4a3032b8 error 4 in libc-2.26.so[7f1477cd1000+1b1000] Sep 14 21:08:44 akari systemd-coredump[21400]: Process 21398 (lvm) of user 0 dumped core. And I mean a LOT. as in, once every two seconds for a period of two minutes, seems to happen during recreation of the boot ramdisk after installing packages with modues that go into it. Any ideas? openSUSE Leap 15.0, all updates applied, system is using LVM on four harddisks... [opensuse] Command line pdf reader - zathura - vi like interface - pretty amazing!

All, This is one of those stray tips e-mail for anybody who spends time on the command line and every wanted a pretty amazing command line pdf reader. zathura is it, and it is a vi like interface that is pretty damn amazing. I stumbled across it looking into pdftohtml and somehow found a link to zathura. For opensuse it is in the X11 Utilities repo: http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/X11:/Utilities/ Just # zypper in zathura zathura-plugin-pdf-poppler zathura-plugin-ps for both the pdf and ps reader (you can also choose mupdf instead of poppler) The entire install is ~600K (not even 1M). pdf rendering is great. You can tweak the config by adding 'set' commands to ~/.config/zathura/zathurarc (none by default). I just added: set font "monospace normal 8" to drop the vi-style command line font from default 9 to 8pt. Full man pages provided with 'man zathurarc' for the config options. I don't pass along many stray tips, but after using Linux for so many years and never running across zathura before -- I'll be many are in the same boat. [opensuse] Two graphic cards, how to get them to work?

Hi, Leap 15.0 I installed a second graphic card in my system and plugged my second monitor in the new card. I followed https://en.opensuse.org/ATI as good as possible but I kind of don't get the second card to do anything. Here's my cards: lspci -nn | grep VGA 01:00.0 VGA compatible controller [0300]: NVIDIA Corporation GF119 [GeForce GT 610] [10de:104a] (rev a1) 03:00.0 VGA compatible controller [0300]: Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. [AMD/ATI] Tahiti PRO [Radeon HD 7950/8950 OEM / R9 280] [1002:679a] The NVIDIA card was first is still running fine. I installed xf86-video-amdgpu and rebooted the computer. Now here: https://en.opensuse.org/SDB:AMDGPU in the Hybrid section is information that might be the key for my problem. It says that the boot loader might need parameters. Here's the output of: xrandr --listproviders Providers: number : 2 Provider 0: id: 0x31e; cap: 0x1 (Source Output); crtcs: 2; outputs: 4; associated providers: 0; name: NVIDIA-0 output DVI-I-0 output VGA-0 output DVI-I-1 output HDMI-0 Provider 1: id: 0x367; cap: 0xf (Source Output, Sink Output, Source Offload, Sink Offload); crtcs: 6; outputs: 4; associated providers: 0; name: modesetting output 0x363 output 0x364 output 0x365 output 0x366 It looks like the two cards are being discovered but only the NVIDIA card is actually active. According to these instructions I might have to add something like amdgpu.si_support=1 to the bootloader settings. [opensuse] What plays a .3gp video file from a phone?

All, I don't mess with video often, but I have a video I have received from a client documenting a date and time for a custody/visitation pickup and it is in .3gp format. VLC claims it doesn't have h264 (part 10) and mp4a codecs. VLC is from videolan, not packman. Do I need to change repos? If so, how do I switch all to packman? -- David C.
