[opensuse] Old kernel is used on system with 2 LEAP installations

On my desktop, there are two LEAP systems, 15.0 and 15.1. grub is managed by the older version 15.0. [opensuse] make bootable an otherwise unbootable device

Hello, This is not a new problem, but it proves habing unpleasant side effects. My ASUS N550JK laptop have initially a dvd reader/writer I have now little use of. So I replaced it by a caddy and drop in there a 500 Gb ssd. [opensuse] solve an ext4 filesystem size problem

Hello, I probably classical problem, but I find no usable solution To solve the problems I speak of in other posts, I only could make a brand new install of 15.1. I planned to do so, but not that fast :-( But I had no free space. So I had to make room. I had no (no more) bootable system on this computer, so I started a rescue system on usb stick (15.1 usb one). On this rescue system, I could use parted to shrink an ext4 partition. But I expected parted to also shrink the ext4 file system (as do, I think, gparted), but it didn't. So I now have a partition with a too big file system in it. I have just updated a Tumbleweed system. It has been running vsftpd just fine. After the update, users can log in, bit anything like a directory listing fails. The version that was working was at least 6 months old as that's when the last system update was done. [opensuse] optimus works on 15.1 - VITUALHEAD also

Hello, after some problems (see elsewhere), I made a fresh install of Leap 15.1. No question else that do you have the same experience? After some work, I could get back my usual working system, and better then It seems optimus/bumblebee works. [opensuse] very annoying grub2 issue, Leap 15.0 / windows 10

Hi guys, I have a extremely annoying issue with grub2, or more precisely grub2-once. I have two systems that both run a dual boot setup between Leap 15.0 and Windows 10. Both boot from UEFI with secure boot turned OFF. One of them i can choose what to boot next from the command line with grub2-once <number>, and it works just fine: I do "sudo grub2-once 3; sudo systemctl reboot" and I end up in windows, and on next reboot I get my grub menu again The other one, whenever I do the same sequence of "sudo grub2-once 3 ; sudo systemctl reboot" I bot into windows, but then I keep booting into windows - grub2 is not working anymore so the boot sequence defaults to the original windows bootloader... The only differences between the two systems that I can think of are: the working system has one harddisk, the nonworking one has two harddisks (but none of the actual OS installed on the second disk, in both windows and linux) the working system has windows 10 home, the broken one has windows 10 pro any ideas/hints? [opensuse] Opening a program in a different computer

I have two computers installed as shown on this extract of /etc/hosts: 192.168.2.1 fritz.box fb # unknown 192.168.2.16 acer ac # Leap_15.1 192.168.2.11 susa se # SuSE_13.2 It is no problem to start a program, e.g. urxvt, from acer on susa. I simply do it by setting $DISPLAY to susa:0.0 on acer: setenv DISPLAY susa:0.0 urxvt & But the inverse setting does not work: setenv DISPLAY acer:0.0 urxvt & This produces the following error message: "urxvt: can't open display acer:0.0, aborting." In other words, a setting of $DISPLAY under SuSE_13.2 works no more under Leap_15.1. Also, disabling access control by setting xhost + does not help. What can I do to force acer to accept setting $DISPLAY to acer:0.0 ? [opensuse] How can I set up an NFS server

Recently I installed Leap 15.1 on one of my computers. Since there is no NFS server available any more in Yast, I tried to make it run manually, setting up an /etc/exports file and enabling and starting "nfsserver" in the Services Manager of Yast, but in vain. Can somebody explain me, how to do it correctly? In the good old days, it was sufficient to make a link to the program in /etc/init.d/rc3.d and /etc/init.d/rc5.d for starting it at boot time: /etc/init.d/rc3.d/S50My_program -> /home/wolfgang/bin/My_program /etc/init.d/rc5.d/S50My_program -> /home/wolfgang/bin/My_program But now under Leap 15.1, that does not work any more. Is there any other way to start a program a boot time?
