[opensuse] using btrfs device remove

Hello, some time ago, I used "btrfs add" to create a raid 1 for my root partition. Now I want to make a clone of the disk with clone zilla, and, of course, clonezilla don't want it. The two raid partition (each on it's own disk, of course) are not part of the image. So, I guess I need to break the raid just for the time of the clone. my config is: # btrfs fi df / Data, RAID1: total=43.00GiB, used=32.17GiB System, RAID1: total=32.00MiB, used=16.00KiB Metadata, RAID1: total=2.00GiB, used=1.14GiB GlobalReserve, single: total=84.41MiB, used=0.00B all the doc I see ask to add a path to the delete command, but what's the use? anyway the delete command seems to be deprecated and replaced by "remove" (see man page) should I run btrfs device remove /dev/sdb2 /mnt or may be btrfs device remove / I see in man: REMOVE DEVICE Device removal must satisfy the profile constraints, otherwise the command fails. I was just looking at some NTP packets between my openSUSE desktop system and my firewall, which has a NTP server. I see the timestamps are all bogus values. Proper NTP operation requires accurate time stamps in both directions, to ensure accurate time. For example, the transit time is used to determine the local offset from the server. The packets between my pfSense firewall and the public NTP server show correct values. [opensuse] When ldconfig is required?

I have a CMake project that does install(TARGETS foo bar baz) where foo is an executable, bar and baz are shared libraries. foo is linked to bar and baz, bar is linked to baz. The install manifest: /usr/local/bin/foo /usr/local/lib64/libbar.so.0.0.1 /usr/local/lib64/libbar.so.0 /usr/local/lib64/libbar.so /usr/local/lib64/libbaz.so However, when I run ldd on any of foo or bar, they both cannot resolve links to their just-installed dependencies (... => "not found"). This is despite /etc/ld.so.conf containing things like /usr/local/lib64. RPATH is not hardcoded for any of the library (and I want it to stay that way, since it should work that way). One thing that resolved the dependencies was running sudo ldconfig Although that helped, I am still curious 1) why running ldconfig was necessary (I thought shared libraries are resolved at runtime through loader) 2) do I need to rerun it every time I reinstall foo, bar and baz 3) do I need to rerun it every time I install new executables or libraries under /usr/local I don't know much about how shared libraries work. Maybe I don't understand something. [opensuse] openSUSE Router with IPV6

With all the chatter about IPV6 lately, I'm working on getting it setup on my home network. My ISP (Charter) does provide IPV6 addresses, but I'm struggling with making this work. I have an odroid C2 ARM board that is running Tumbleweed with 2 network interfaces: eth1 onboard interface is the WAN port. Uses wicked and dhcp to get an ipv4 and ipv6 address from my isp. eth0 on a usb to ethernet adapter is the LAN port. This all works great for ipv4, but my workstations on the lan only have an ipv4 address plus an fe80... ipv6 address. In my /etc/sysctl.conf I have: net.ipv4.ip_forward = 1 net.ipv6.conf.all.forwarding = 1 net.ipv6.conf.all.accept_ra = 2 net.ipv6.conf.eth1.autoconf = 0 net.ipv6.conf.all.use_tempaddr = 0 net.ipv6.conf.default.use_tempaddr = 0 I was following this guide: https://taczanowski.net/linux-box-as-an-ipv6-router-with-slaac-and-dhcpv6-p… which was running on openSUSE 42.2 using wide-dhcpv6-client. But wide-dhcpv6 is no longer available on openSUSE. So how can I get wicked to request the prefix from my isp, forward that prefix to dnsmasq so it can hand out ipv6 addresses, and using the prefix set an ipv6 address on the lan interface? [opensuse] Apache2 with php7 under Leap 15.1

Having installed apache2 and php7 under Leap 15.1, I started apache2 using the Services Manager of yast2. But Google-chrome and Firefox do not recognize a php script. They treat it as a text file, trying to open and/or download it. What is wrong? This has been a very difficult decision for me to make, with reasons that are diverse, interlinked, and personal. Some of the key factors that led me to make this step include the time required to do the job properly, and the length of time I've served. Five years is more than twice as long as any of my predecessors. The time required to do the role properly has increased and I now find it impossible to balance the demands of the role with the requirements of my primary role as a developer in SUSE, and with what I wish to achieve outside of work and community. As difficult as it is to step back from something I've enjoyed doing for so long, I am looking forward to achieving a better balance between work, community, and life in general. Serving as member and chair of the openSUSE Board has been an absolute pleasure and highly rewarding. Meeting and communicating with members of the project as well as championing the cause of openSUSE has been a joyous part of my life that I know I will miss going forward. openSUSE won't get rid of me entirely. While I do intend to step back from any governance topics, I will still be working at SUSE in the Future Technology Team. Following SUSE's Open Source policy, we do a lot in openSUSE. I am especially looking forward to being able to focus on Kubic & MicroOS much more than I have been lately. As I'm sure it's likely to be a question, I wish to make it crystal clear that my decision has nothing to do with the Board’s ongoing efforts to form an independent openSUSE Foundation. The Board’s decision to form a Foundation had my complete backing as Chairperson, and will continue to have as a regular openSUSE contributor. I have absolute confidence in the openSUSE Board; Indeed, I don't think I would be able to make this decision at this time if I wasn't certain that I was leaving openSUSE in good hands. On that note, SUSE has appointed Gerald Pfeifer as my replacement as Chair. Gerald is SUSE's EMEA-based CTO, with a long history as a Tumbleweed user, an active openSUSE Member, and upstream contributor/maintainer in projects like GCC and Wine. Gerald has been a regular source of advice & support during my tenure as Chairperson. In particular, I will always remember my first visit to FOSDEM as openSUSE Chair. Turning up more smartly dressed than usual, I was surprised to find Gerald, a senior Director at SUSE, diving in to help at the incredibly busy openSUSE booth, and doing so dressed in quite possibly the oldest and most well-loved openSUSE T-shirt I've ever seen. When booth visitors came with questions about SUSE-specific stuff, I think he took some glee in being able to point them in my direction while teasingly saying "Richard is the corporate guy here, I'm just representing the community.." Knowing full well he will continue being so community minded, while finally giving me the opportunity to tease him in return, it is with a similar glee I now hand over the reigns to Gerald. As much as I'm going to miss things about being chairperson of this awesome community, I'm confident and excited to see how openSUSE evolves from here. [opensuse] external disks "disapear" after unmount

A small problem on 15.1: When I plug an USB external disk it appears in the icon in the "task bar", I can click to mount it (because they are encrypted, the password is asked). When I don't need it anymore, I click in the same dialog on the "unmount-icon" and it is unmounted. So far everything ok. But: After unmounting it, it disappears from the list of connected devices and is not visible anymore. To mount it again, I must unplug it physically and then plug it again. Before (on 42.3) the device was still visible, the same as if plugged but not mounted. Can I change something, so that the device remains visible even after unmount, just as it was before? (I have an external disk whose cable is - or was... - always connected, but I only mounted it in the moments I needed it. I thought, after unmounting it doesn't turn anymore, thus is less used and lives longer. If I'm wrong please correct me). Another thing is that the MyBook WD external disk keeps blinking (for ever) after unmounting. Before after unmounting the light on the external disk disappeared. [opensuse] Plasma bug

Every now and then, I get an error about plasma shell. The details are :"Executable: plasmashell PID 3108 Signal: Segmentaion fault (11) Time: ... When I try to report the bug, I can't because I can't recall what I was doing. It just happens no matter what.
