[opensuse] Strange 42.2 to 42.3 update problem

I have a SANDISK usb stick that was formatted as FAT32 on a WIN-7 laptop. It previously has had other formats including at one point was a opensuse-13.2 install stick. In Leap 42.2 it mounts just fine. I plug it in and it is labeled SCANDISK I click on open with file manager and all is fine. I have 2 42.3 systems where I plug it in and it says: openSUSE-13.2-DVD-x86_640051 with 3 options. I don't understand why it says the above. On a Leap 42.2 it says SANDISK. I click open with file manager but it can't open. I'm sure that it is just something to do with the stick as I have other USB sticks that work just fine on 42.3. The stick is FAT32 with a volume label of SANDISK. I don't understand why this is happening and I really need this thing to work properly. Can anyone shed some light what might be changed on the stick for Leap 42.3 to treat it correctly? Debian appears to be setting this as a goal, my question is - Is OpenSuSE doing the same? [opensuse] zypper and mirror: maximum redirects

I have been getting this error sometimes when running zypper (on Leap 42.3): Error code: Curl error 47 Error message: Maximum (6) redirects followed If I tell zypper to retry, it usually works. So, when running zypper interactively, this only a curiosity. The problem is that I am using kiwi to try to build some OEM images of Leap 42.3, and that fails when this happens. So in that context it is a problem. It seems to happen for any repo. All my repos are http://download.opensuse.org, it is doing the redirection to mirrors. [opensuse] No Tumbleweed mirrors?

I'm trying to download the latest Tumbleweed ISO, and it's saying that it'll take about 2 days. Checking the http://mirrors.opensuse.org/ site, there aren't any mirrors listed. [opensuse] YaST manual?

The latest updates to the system want to install two Noto emoji fonts. That annoys me because I can't see ever wanting any emoji font, let alone a google one, let alone two of the bl**d things. So YaST updater tells me that the fonts are 'recommended' by a 'security' update to chromium. WTF! So I would like to tell YaST not to install those recommendations, but I can't figure out how to do it. Why does YaST not tell me those fonts are recommendations rather than real dependencies? Why does it not give me the opportunity to choose whether to install them? The online help says to refer to the manual for details but doesn't provide a link. https://en.opensuse.org/System_Updates says to refer to YaST Online Update = http://doc.opensuse.org/products/opensuse/openSUSE/opensuse-reference/cha.o… but when I click on that link it takes me to https://doc.opensuse.org/ and when I select the HTML version of the Reference Guide it seems there is no such chapter - the word Update apears only once in the contents - 'Dynamic Update of Zone Data' and none of the occurences of the word YaST appear relevant. [opensuse] No xfce in 42.3

For some years I have been using lxde and later xfce with openSUSE versions up to 42.2. I am now doing a net install of 42.3 with, I had hoped, xfce. Previously this was a simple choice on the User Interface page, but this choice has disappeared with 42.3. All I see is User Interface Please select a user interface * Desktop with KDE Plasma * Desktop with Gnome * Server (Text Mode) * Custom Why has xfce been removed? Is there some way of getting an xfce desktop on openSUSE 42.3 as I had with 42.2? [opensuse] 42.3: NET install via WiFi :-)

I installed 42.3 via a TP-Link TL-WN722N (Atheros AR9271) which was detected automatically. This is the first time in my experience that a NET install has succeeded via WiFi. Well done!
