[opensuse] [CORRECTED] 42.3 and Create XEN VM Problem

Hi, I have problem creating XEN VM in YaST on 100% fresh install of 42.3, it simply do not allow to do this, always selecting KVM (Connection QEMU/KVM), and don’t allowing selection of XEN anywhere. CPU Intel Q6600 quad-core, 8 GB RAM virtualization technolgy enabled in BIOS System booted in OpenSuSE Leap with Xen hypervisor XEN server & Xen tools are installed libvirt LXC daemon installed KVM server NOT installed Running daemons: libvirtd libvirtd-guest xen-watchdog xencommons xenconsoled xendomains xendriverdomain xenstored These also running, although I’m not sure is should be so before actual VM xen-init-dom0 xen-qemu-dom0-disk-backend YaST -> Virtual machine manager Add Connection -> Hypervisor XEN States that it can’t connect to libvirt, libxenlight drvier not active. [opensuse] Your laptop battery is definitely broken

I have two installations of 42.3 on two different computers. Each tells me that the battery is probably broken, which is true enough. But the first requires me to press OK for the message to go away, whereas the second is a yellow notice which vanishes after a few seconds. What might cause the difference? I would rather not see the message as I am not about to do anything about the batteries, other than remove them altogether. But the yellow notice is better than the OK prompt. [opensuse] Large Data Backups?

Hi Folks, BLUF: How to backup large data stores? Say I've got 300-TB of on-line data, most if it is fairly static, while some of it changes frequently on a daily basis. I do daily incremental backups on the dynamic areas to disk filesystems on separate computers, with a monthly full disk image being stored off-line at an off-site location. But I'm worried about the bulk of the data that isn't being backed up. Most of the data consists of lots of binary files stored on multiple hardware RAID-6 arrays. The arrays have hot-spare disks, and I've got spares on the shelf. But as the graybeards know, reliable RAID isn't backup! One technology being considered is LTO tape. LTO-8 is due out any day now that claims to store 12-TB native. A drive or two with a tape library would possibly fill the requirement. Does anyone have any thoughts/advice? [opensuse] installation 42.3 - deselecting yast-firewall causes all of YaST to be deselected ??

[opensuse] Calibre and others

I keep removing calibre: zypper remove rpm -e Every time I install a new package from yast or zypper it jumps back in AND then on the next install run tells me there unmeetable dependencies. Any thought on how to make it go away? Leap 42.2 is now available at the Windows Store, for installation on Windows 10. I'm using TW from two or three days ago. I right clicked on an email and chose "edit" from the context menu and kmail blew up! Now it won't even start (or Kontact either). When I try to start it I just get a notice that it closed unexpectedly and to report the bug (which itself doesn't work). Anybody know where the information is located that keeps Kontact/Kmail from starting? [opensuse] My cat walked on my laptop's keyboard and changed the screen setting

I really didn't want to write $SUBJ, but I cannot figure how to revert to the regular settings. The laptop is running KDE on Linux 12.3, the windows are now slightly bigger than the available screen, maybe 10% - they pan along with the movement of the mouse, up/down, left/right. I expect some sort of BIOS settings, I did a reboot but that changed nothing. I've checked the display settings, nothing there.
