[opensuse] Black screen after update (leap 42.1)

Hi, I just updated my opensuse and now, I have a black screen before the session manager. I can only connect in text mode. What can I do? I have a NVIDIA vidéo card, in case it can help, and use the proprietary driver. Just for kicks I set up another camera doing a video of the sky for as long as it would go, which turned to be till the video file was 2 GB (FAT memory card). At 15 frames per second. It appears to be 45 minutes of full black, which is not a surprise. However, I wonder if there is some software in Linux to scan a video and signal somehow when the scene changes. Or one can get a cheap CCTV DVR and set the record type to "Motion detect", which only records if there is a change from one frame to another. Maybe "significant change" depending upon the sensitivity. Point 1: "on topic" because most cheap DVRs use linux Point 2: I didn't say it was a good idea, just one option. Point 3: Yes, there are ways in software to do what you want. Converting a video to individual jpg and comparing them is one way, Finding an open source (https://www.mythtv.org/ is one) DVR program is another. [opensuse] why does konsole use processor power after it's closed?

Hi, I'm here on leap 42.1 with kde 5. Sometimes I use konsole to do some little things, then I close it. But it seems the program does not terminate. Right now I had two Konsole processes, each consuming 13% of my i7 cpu power - but no konsole window open and nothing that could still run within konsole. I am sure that there is nothing running, because I just used it to start a program, terminated it and was back on the prompt again before I exited konsole. I then kill these processes manually. Of course I can do that whenever I use konsole, but shouldn’t a program terminate itself when its terminated and stop eating my battery? And what could konsole do that uses 13% of such a powerful processor? Anybody else sees this problem? What could I do? [opensuse] SuSE Leap with Virtualbox

About two weeks ago I asked some questions about runlevel 3 with openSuSE versus Mint. The answers were helpful and I was able to get past that so that I can boot to non-graphical. That all started with trying to use Virtualbox and believing that I needed a newer graphics card. Now I have the host system with Mint KDE and the new Nvidia 960. I am now trying to install several different Linux distributions as Virtualbox guests. It took a bit of work but finally I was able to install two versions of Mint and get them to work properly with the host graphics card. Now I am trying to install openSuSE Leap 42.1 as a Virtualbox guest on this same system but am not having as much luck. The installation seemed to go OK and it booted OK after the install but I did get a message suggesting I update the Virtualbox guest components. After the update, I reboot the guest and I get most of the normal desktop but the taskbar is missing. I can click on the lower left corner where the app launcher button would be and I get the menu. I can click on any app such as console but it doesn't appear on the desktop. I can then click on where the taskbar should be and can see that the app is there but nothing actually appears on the desktop. Anyone have an idea what might be wrong? On a related (sort of) subject, I thought I might try to get a console (ctl alt F1) but I don't know how to get that key sequence to go to the guest and not the host. Can anyone please tell me how I can get a console in a guest? [opensuse] Can't install Wireshark 2.05 openSUSE 13.1

I have 2 systems running openSUSE 13.1. Hello: I run firefox which is connected to a website. How can I find the IP address of the connected site, possibly running a terminal application. I know there are firefox addons that can do this but I don't have any installed and I don't want to restart firefox. I have a cron job running every 20 minutes monitoring a temperature sensor for minor changes in trend up/down. This has been running for a few months. Today at 1521 I got a warning that the trend dad changed to slightly upward. The next one failed on a DNS issue.
