[opensuse] Encrypted DVD Playback Kodi PVR [OT]

Off topic as it is Ubuntu but I cannot find any support on the ubuntu lists. I am currently setting up a kodi PVR which is all finished apart from DVD playback. I have ubuntu 16.04 on my desktop which I set up about a year ago and the dvds play fine on there (As well as opensuse and win 10) When I set ubuntu up on here I did this which has always worked. sudo apt-get install ubuntu-restricted-extras sudo apt-get install libdvdcss2 libdvdnav4 libdvdread4 libdvd-pkg sudo apt-get install libdvd-pkg sudo dpkg-reconfigure libdvd-pkg I have repeated these steps on my PVR (even did a clean install with and without updates) and I can only play non-encrypted DVDs. (None of the ones I have purchased legally work)! I installed windows 10 and libdvdcss for windows on the same hardware (both computers) and all my DVDs play fine (the ones I had time to try anyway). But I don't want to use windows! Everything else works in ubuntu just not DVDs! I have tried two dvd drives and same problem on both (both work on my desktop PC) Does anyone know what has changed in the last year? This is the last thing I need to get working to install my pvr. [opensuse] 42.2 - No IPv6 privacy address on Ethernet

I can get a MAC based IPv6 address, using Network Manager, but not the random number based privacy address. Two days ago I copied several files from the old server, one of them, some entries from fstab. One, was this: /dev/mapper/cr_hoard2 /data/hoard xfs nofail,noatime 0 3 LABEL=old_d_tmpry /data/waterhoard xfs user,relatime,exec,nofail 1 3 Then I noticed that systemd was trying to mount them and complaining about some dependency not found re mounting the disks - obviously, as they were not yet connected, I needed a new usb3 enclosure instead of the old usb2. No big deal, just some log noise. I simply commented out the line: #/dev/mapper/cr_hoard2 /data/hoard xfs nofail,noatime 0 3 #LABEL=old_d_tmpry /data/waterhoard xfs user,relatime,exec,nofail 1 3 Well, today I assembled the two disks and connected them. Both went online as soon as each was powered up, despite the line in fstab being deactivated! No, I don't mean mounted somewhere in /media via the desktop. No. They were mounted in the places that figured in the fstab file! Seems things are getting worse in this respect in 42.2 than in 13.1 :-( (the password for the encrypted disk is in a file on the encrypted home partition, so that part was not a surprise) - -- Cheers Carlos E. [opensuse] mount to static mount point in /media in openSUSE 13.1 and newer

Hello: I have openSUSE 13.1 and 13.2 machines with their default KDE desktops. I would like that optical media would be mounted (automounted) to static mount points/names like dvd or dvdrw in /media, eg. /media/dvdrw. How can I achieve that? I also would like that usb flash disks would be mounted in /media either to static names or their volume names, eg: /media/flashdisk or /media/<volume-name>. How to do this? [opensuse] Turn off touch pad in 42.2

I have a ThinkPad E520 notebook computer. With earlier versions of openSUSE, I was able to disable the touch pad with a script in the .kde4/Autorun directory, which disabled the touch pad. This doesn't seem to work with 42.2. Even running it manually doesn't work. How do I turn off the #$%*&#$ touch pad??? [opensuse] 42.2 WiFi password not saved

It appears I now have to enter the WiFi password every time I try to connect. In 13.1, I could save the password for each connection. While I could use KWallet, that also required the password to be entered every time I log into my computer. [opensuse] xdg-utils update messed with cups/firefox? [42.1]

Since the xdg-utils update the other day I am unable to print from firefox. The print dialog works fine but the file disappears into space. Printing from other sources (claws-mail, etc) apparently works fine. To debug I tried to start cups from the LXDE (gtk) menu entry "Manage Printing" which points to "/usr/share/applications/cups.desktop" and therein the command line is "desktop-launch http://localhost:631/". This no longer starts cups in the browser but instead displays my /home in a webpage. Eh, that's not good. Running "http://localhost:631/" directly in a browser (firefox 50.0) works fine and opens the local cups webpage, so the problem appears to be the "desktop-launch" thing which is a link defined as so: lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 8 Jan 31 2016 /usr/bin/desktop-launch -> xdg-open ... and "xdg-open" is: -rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 21906 Nov 18 10:20 /usr/bin/xdg-open ... which was installed/updated here on the 29th and which since that date I cannot print in firefox. Ok, where do I go from here? Thanks.
