[opensuse] Ghostbusting 12.3

As you may know, the Ghost vulnerability of glibc was announced last week. It affects glibc < 2.18. My 13.1 has v2.18 and is ok but my 12.3 system has 2.17 and is vulnerable. I did the updates but no help. Will there be a patch released to fix 2.17? Or any other vulnerable version? I am running 12.3 because 13.1 will not install on that hardware. [opensuse] weird disk error

hello, I have a strange error on a hard drive. It's a 1.5Tb disk. I have copies of the content, but restoring them spend approx one dy and I would like to understand what happen. it's an usb disk (3.5"). It's seen like having one more sector on the file system than the real size: mounting ext3 file system using the ext4 subsystem EXT4-fs (sdd1): bad geometry: block count 366284390 exceeds size of device (366284381 blocks) I tried to reduce the size of the only partition with fdisk, no change. fsck /dev/sdd1 fsck from util-linux 2.25.1 e2fsck 1.42.12 (29-Aug-2014) The filesystem size (according to the superblock) is 366284390 blocks The physical size of the device is 366284381 blocks Either the superblock or the partition table is likely to be corrupt! I have a brand new openSUSE 13.1 with the latest updates, and I'm trying to upgrade it to 13.2. [opensuse] No sound in Minecraft

I've asked on the minecraft forums without a response so I'm trying here in case that it might be a SuSE configuration issue. I do not have sound in the game. This has been a problem for several versions nowCurently running 1.7.5. I've also tried the last 2 snapshots. I can play music fine and was able to play the sound files in .mineraft/assets/objects/* via Amarok. I have deleted the assets folder and had re-downloaded everything. I looked in the bug list and I found a few sound related issues, but they suggested that there was some sounds. The log only mentions minecraft:mob.witch.idle, but there are no sounds at all in game, but in options everything is set to 100%. I tried to force an older version in profile editor but still no sound going back to 1.4.2. I see a java Playback Stream in the mixer and volume is 100% there too. Any ideas? [opensuse] Not able to find any OpenOffice package for the SUSE 13.1

Hi, I'm using openSUSE 13.1, on my 32 bit machine. I need to work with OpenOffice document. But I'm not getting any software for my version of SUSE. I checked here - https://en.opensuse.org/OpenOffice.org. Nothing I found for 13.1. I got one link - http://www.itzgeek.com/how-tos/linux/opensuse/how-to-install-openoffice-org… , but it is for 12.1. Is there any repository through which I can get it in 13.1 ? I have a read only NFS share on my LAN with all my movies, music and photos etc for sharing to my local devices. Is there any way I can make specific sub-directories of this available off-line (i.e. sync to the hard disk)? [opensuse] mailing list threading problems? (Thunderbird)

Anybody else noticing posts all over the place in this ML since a few days ago? Not only are many posts from different persons (including myself) seemingly being delayed, but they're not initially being threaded properly, although that seems to then 'catch up' some time later. I keep seeing orphaned replies to posts that don't exist until some hours or more later. I first thought it was one or two people who aren't subscribed creating a new topic with each reply, but then the prior posts show up in the right place later on. I read the lists in Thunderbird on oS 13.1 64-bit, and I just upgraded to the latest version 31.4.0, but I *think* these issues began occurring shortly before I updated. [opensuse] Strange KDE version number on oS 13.2 update

Hi all, I am updating my oS 13.2 and I see several packages relative to KDE with version "14.12.1" instead of the expected "4.14.x". These packages come from the repo-update but it seems to me the version number is simply wrong. For now I have just aborted the update but, before opening a bug-report, I would ask whether this version number is the expected one.
