[opensuse] flash-player 11.2.202.442 for oS 12.1-12.3

Hello all, since yesterday afternoon, there's the current flash-player available for 12.1-12.3 that multimedia:apps doesn't build for (and for which there probably won't be offical updates). Again: - search on software.opensuse.org for flash-player, my packages will be at the bottom, and use 1-Click, I do not know how that works with updates or - go directly to http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/home:/dnh/ choose your oS version, add the repo, adjust it to a low priority (i.e. high number, say 142), and then manually switch _JUST_ flash-player to the 11.2.202.442 version from my repo. That way, you should get multimedia:apps-via-me updates for flash-player, but no other packages from my repo should "contaminate" your system ;) At least as long as you have not changed the default of solver.allowVendorChange = false in /etc/zypp/zypp.conf to "true". You can still change vendor manually, which is the point (see above). Works beautifully. zypp'll just update from _that_ manually chosen repo until a conflict appears or somesuch problem. But not update other packages from e.g. my repo. BTW: if you're on 13.1/.2: you can do the same with the multimedia:apps repo, add it with a low prio, manually switch flash-player over to that repo, and you'll get e.g. .444 when the next bugfix-release is done ;) Alas, not via "patch", but via "update". [opensuse] cron dukeing it out with postfix

Using the Task Scheduler in KDE Desktop config, I have (as user me) scheduled a task to run daily. It runs as scheduled and works correctly. I don't remember ever setting up postfix and or postdrop. Does this require a bug report, or do I just have to run postfix? (It is totally unobvious where task scheduler stores it's files, the help references crontab but none of these exist in my user directory structure). [opensuse] install iso, disc media problems...? install from hard drive?

I'm installing (a variant of) OpenSuSE v.13.1 64-bit and am presented with the initial welcome screen when booting to install. After a moment, the screen turns dark, and nothing happens. [opensuse] 2nd display with touch

I just connected one of these to my laptop running openSUSE 13.1: http://www.gechic.com/product_help_en.asp?s=14 Wow. It 'just worked'. I suddenly had a second display that looked great. And the touch also just simply worked. All hot plugged. It even took all the power it needs from the USB connector. Gotta say that the old days of fiddling with displays seem really to be gone. But one seldom posts when there is 100% good news and not at least some sort of pending question :). (Which is too bad because one gets the wrong impression of things when there are no success stories. This e-mail should be taken as a happy success. But I digress.) I have a question about the touch part of this. When the device is the only display, all works as expected. But on my laptop, it is the second display and the only one with touch. So, when you move the mouse sprite around, it is not actually under your finger. I am guessing that the touch is somehow dimensioned for the both screens, as is a mouse. Unlike a mouse, I can only move the touch over this display. So movement on the display should, I think, be restricted to the display with the touch. kcm-touchpad-list-devices lists the touch pad as: Name: ILITEK ILITEK Multi-Touch Type: TOUCHSCREEN Use: Extension Pointer When I try to configure it in the KDE desktop configuration program, the touch mouse goes wild. I get the feeling it is not designed to work with a dual display and only one touch pad. [opensuse] Several new and older 13.2 suddenly taking a minute or more after password entered in ssh login, same with su -

Very odd, as of today two more boxes or even more started to behave oddly when logging in via ssh from remote locations. Entering username then quickly able to enter the password and hitting enter then stalls the login process for maybe a minute or even longer until the default tcsh or bash or something terminal is available and greeting the user. One machine is brand new 13.2 with latest updates applied. All of my 13.2 machines now behave this way. Same delay is experienced when su - ing on these machines.
