All,
I don't start VirtualBox often, but I have a number of depositions that I
need to convert from e-transcript to pdf (which requires the windows based
Reallegal e-trans viewer). Starting vbox today, I received:
Implementation of the USB 2.0 controller not found!
Because the USB 2.0 controller state is part of the saved VM state, the VM
cannot be started. To fix this problem, either install the 'Oracle VM VirtualBox
Extension Pack' or disable USB 2.0 support in the VM settings (VERR_NOT_FOUND).
It is obvious it thinks it is missing the extension pack, but I have never
had this problem since 13.1 was released. Checking, I show to have the following
installed:
# rpm -qa | grep -i virtual | sort

This is the first time I've used openSuSE rpms verses using the one from the
virtualbox site.
What/where do I check first to find out why USB has been lost? Do I need to
uninstall vbox 5 and try dropping back to the latest 4?
Time critical help needed....

I receive a 1.5 minute timeout on boot because the system does not
recognize my disk drive. In Yast2, if I run Boot Loader I get the
following error message. I had to copy by hand:-( Why can't I cut and
paste it?
Internal error. Please report a bug report with logs.
Details: Unknown udev device
/dev/disk/by-id/scsi-1ATA_Samsung_SSD_840_EVO_1TB_SiD9NSAFB28745F-part2
Caller: /usr/share/Yast2/lib/bootloader/udev_mapping.rb:42:in
'to_kernel_device"
What should be done? What logs does the message refer to? Nothing
appears relevant in dmsg.
Thanks

Howdy...
I have a system that mounts at boot two LUKS-encrypted partitions. Both
swap and home are encrypted, with different passwords. Ordinarily, I am
asked at boot for the passwords, one at a time, each time in an
unlabeled graphical box consisting of a data-entry field and a padlock
icon. Though the box is completely unlabeled as to which password it
is asking for, I know from long experience that it is swap first
wanted, then the box cleared and redrawn, then home password wanted.
There has always been a quite sufficient wait-time while the machine
waits for the data entry.
Sometime around 16th December this changed. The process still works
fine for the swap password, box is drawn and machine pauses awaiting
the password entry, but the graphical box is never drawn for the second
(home) password and the machine thus boots without mounting home.
If I F12 the boot, I can see the request for the 2nd password scroll by
in the text console, but it doesn't pause for data entry, immediately
times out, and again boots without the second encrypted drive.
If I immediately and quickly type the 2nd password as soon as I see it
scroll by, it's accepted and home is mounted. If I'm a bit slow, it
doesn't mount and reports an incorrect password in the log.
I've looked at the logs after failed mounts and I see systemd messages
reporting the failures, but the messages seem to be different each
time. And I see no messages in there at all from the graphical boot
thing (plymouth?)
Any ideas what I should be looking at here? Thanks.
Ralph

All, Wolfgang,
This is bizarre. I updated thunderbird 38.3->38.5 (mozilla repo) and when
attempting to start 38.5, the crash-dialog appears immediately (and attempting
"Restart" just results in yet another crash-dialog). Starting from konsole
reveals the following:

This may effect all releases. I have the calender (lightning) configured to
my groupware calendar. It has worked since lightning was released as a
stand-along addon back in the 2.0 days, so I doubt that is the culprit.
I need help determining if this is an openSuSE issue or upstream.

Hello,
do you have tested any tablet running openSUSE around the $200 price
list? (around 10" size preferred)

well, of course I need an usable tablet :-)
that's why I ask for experiences, because there are many trials on the
net (and myself I could get cheap a smartq5 "tablet" - but with 5" and
barely usable
thanks

I have run xosview for many years. Now after the Leap upgrade, I receive
the following error message:
Cannot get battery information
If using APM, have you loaded the `apm' module?
If using ACPI, have you loaded the `battery' module?
Are these modules referred to kernel modules, or some other flavor? What
changed?
Thanks,
Don

Dear Xen,
please enjoy this classic about designers and desired design. I think it is since years a noteworthy peace of humorist approach of a real problem.
http://www.27bslash6.com/missy.html
About a missing cat called "missy". Very pertinent to your problem. And I agree, time ago documentation was way easier organized.
And more over, security guides and other places of opensuse are badly advertised. Some are nice, but you have to search hard and "discover".
Other distribution (I recall Arch) seem to do better but then of course a lot is about personal taste, the material once uses and the available collaborators.
So about wiki having to be "messy" I do not agree so much. But too much depth in menus...or not intuitive pages are a known problem.

I have run Yast2, and all appears happy. I have looked at files in
/etc/sysconfig/networking and /etc/wicked, and all appear happy in my
humble opinion. What is making the decision that these devices are
unconfigured. What does unconfigured mean? Is there a single field in
one of the files that has been omitted? It is very frustrating to not be
able to get on the net from a machine that used to have no problem.
Especially since the net is required to send details to this list.
