For days Apper tries to update glibc.:Properly handleforead elision in pthreadmutex try Lock (message openSUSE-2014-368) In Yast I get as the reaction ./x86_64/glibc-locale-2.18-4.15.1-x86_64.rpm "Locale Data for localized Programs" system fault. Is there a repository for camera drivers? I recently purchased a Nikon S6500 camera and it's driver isn't available in the 13.1 distro DVD. [opensuse] Samba Print Server

Hi I am trying to set up a print server using samba to share to windows clients. I have set up the printer in YaST and it prints from the opensuse 13.1 server I have set up samba and can see the printer. >From within windows, I go to add a driver to the print server, select the driver, then I get the error 'The drivers list was not refreshed. The driver data may be invalid.' I have been informed that this may be a permissions issue but I have no clue where to look! [opensuse] sound settings for shared USB stick

I prepared an 13.1 installation with GNOME on an USB stick. This installation boots fine on several different systems, network and display are all automatically detected and used. Just sound seems to be bound to a single system. Is there a way to let the system automatically figure out what the current sound hardware is? I see all modules are loaded, but no sound is available unless I use yast to reconfigure. Perhaps the way out is to do "rm -rf /home/*/.config/pulse" every time the system boots. I have not tried that, yet. Or is there a way to preserve settings based on the actual system, like /sys/class/dmi/id/product_uuid? [opensuse] Mouse right-click in Nautilus is too fast!

Strange that nobody noticed it yet but if you are in Nautilus and right-click your mouse button the response is so fast that the first option in the opened window (in my case it is new-folder) is going to be selected without you ever perceive! I tried to lowering down the sensitivity in mouse/touchpad options without any success. Is there a way to really slow-down this very frustrating behaviour in Nautilus? [opensuse] KMail file / folder structure

Hi I backed up my kmail maildir folder on my old openSUSE 11.2 install ( ~/.kde4/share/apps/kmail/mail/ ) before I did a fresh install of 13.1. Within kmail I had a folder structure like this Inbox Trash Outbox BAND +---Website +---Correspondance SCHOOL +---Website +---Correspondance etc. I have found that the newer version of kmail stores it mail folders here... ~/.local/share/local-mail/ And so I copied the backups of BAND and SCHOOL from ...backupfolder/.kde4/share/apps/kmail/mail/BAND and ...backupfolder/.kde4/share/apps/kmail/mail/SCHOOL ...to... ~/.local/share/local-mail/BAND And~/.local/share/local-mail/SCHOOL ...but all I can see in kmail is emails that were directly in the BAND and SCHOOL folders. No sub folders! No email that were in sub folders! [opensuse] re menu starter items: life before and after death of SuSEconfig

This is about menu starter items. I want to be able to create .desktop files for ~/.local/share/applications/ initially either with a text editor, or with KDE3's or KDE4's menu editor, and later migrate them to, or from, other users. ISTR while SuSEconfig was alive that .desktop files could be placed from elsewhere into ~/.local/share/applications/ and they would be ignored until such time as SuSEconfig was run. I'd like on systems where SuSEconfig is still present to be able to run SuSEconfig -module modulename to do this, but there seems on 11.4 at least to be no documentation to discover what modules exist, thus no way to discover what module to run in order to make KDE see these migrated .desktop files, forcing SuSEconfig to in effect timestamp unchanged files, in addition to making the menu items work. Post-SuSEconfig, what tool takes its place? NAICT, xdg-desktop-menu may be what SuSEconfig used, and what to use since, bug as is normal for man pages, http://linux.die.net/man/1/xdg-desktop-menu lacks examples that make its prose understandable. Neither does it explain whether it's designed for global use (changing something in /etc/), or user level ($HOME only). What bothers me most is that mere existence of a valid .desktop file in ~/.local/share/applications/ is insufficient for the application/configuration it defines to show up in a KDE menu.
