[opensuse] bug#498789 - libreoffice convert-to-pdf

I have long had a setup where I convert ODT document to PDF in an automated/batch fashion - I used to use DocumentConverter.py for this. Five years ago I reported that this had problems when being used concurrently for multiple documents, that is bug#498789. Petr Mladek recently updated and mentioned that libreoffice now could do this directly from the command line, and suggested I could use the following alternative: libreoffice --headless --convert-to pdf inputdocument.odt On the odd chance that someone here knows about libreoffice, will the above create a new instance of libreoffice or will it be able to use my waiting instance which is listening on localhost:8120 ? [opensuse] What to do about acroread?

Hi Folks, I know this has been discussed in the past, but it's finally bitten me directly. While I applaud the decision to not include unsupported proprietary software in openSuSE, the problem remains. I've made several 13.1 installs so far, but I finally got around to installing on my personal machine. Alas, I need to fill out a government provided pdf with form fields and can't do it without acroread. So, some questions: 1. Is there an open-source pdf package that supports forms? 2. Is there an open-source pdf package that allows digital signatures, especially with keys from SmartCards? I installed the latest unsupported acroread and appropriate 32-bit libraries and it seems to work. Does anyone have any ideas about how to mitigate the potential security threats? Maybe not access pdf's directly from the Internet or email, and run everything you do process through clamav first? An alternative would be to use Win-XP Adobe Reader in Virtualbox, but I fail to see how that would be safer! No, I refuse to purchase a Win-7 or 8 license for Virtualbox. [opensuse] KDE 4.13.1 Bug fix release will be released shortly in KDE:Current

Dear openSUSE KDE Users, KDE has release the bug fix release 4.13.1. The last few days we have been preparing the packages for this bug fix release and within the next few hours the packages will become available through the KDE:Current repository. KDE 4.13.1 resolves around 50 bugs from bugs.kde.org and includes fixes to baloo, Kontact, Konqueror and dolphin. Most of the bugfixes for baloo were already delivered for openSUSE users, but this release will bring two additional features for baloo: 1) There is a new command line tool to control baloo (balooctl), with which baloo can be temporary stopped and started. 2) The desktop search module for systemsettings has been enhanced and offers now the most requested feature to switch on/off the file indexer for baloo. This would allow to have more control over baloo and removes the necessity to add $HOME to the list of excluded filesystems. [opensuse] Kmail is loading one account but not the other sometimes

Hi, I am using kmail. There I have set 2 identities, one for Yahoo, other for Gmail. Sometimes, I am seeing that Gmail account email is being loaded and I am able to read those, but Yahoo one not. If I click on any email, it is showing *loading*...*loading*.......... but finally not. Is there any Adhoc way, to fix this. [opensuse] rename4 network interface??

This morning when I powered on my oS 12.3 laptop, for some reason, I've got a new network interface called "rename4". My regular eth0, ham0, and lo interfaces are there still, but my "sticky" IP address is assigned to this new "rename4" adapter, so it apparently has the MAC address of the physical NIC assigned to it. Has anyone seen this before? Hi, Neither Firefox nor in my Chromium, is being able to play videos. It is telling *video format or MIME type is not supported".
