It has at a minimum passed autoQA and thus boots in the tested configs as well as passing various other autoQA tests. - factory testing should be reserved for individuals who troubleshoot autoQA failures. For a little info on autoQA: <https://openqa.opensuse.org/> It is very interesting to review the results of openQA https://openqa.opensuse.org/tests/ Take a look at all the choices in the "testsuite" pull-down. The last column to the right shows the number of failed tests. Find a test with some failures, then go to the far left hand column and click the test number to get details. Here's an example: <https://openqa.opensuse.org/tests/38005> It has 3 failed tests, but let's ignore those for now. It does successfully install gimp and launch it. You can see some screenshots from that process at: <https://openqa.opensuse.org/tests/38005/modules/gimp/steps/1> Thus, if you are a dev, you can drill down into the autoQA testing and take a look at what is / isn't working. For test 38005 you can see an overview of the failures at <https://openqa.opensuse.org/tests/overview?build=261.2&distri=opensuse&vers…> For test 38005 you can see oocalc failed to start at: <https://openqa.opensuse.org/tests/38005/modules/oocalc/steps/1> If you look at that same test harness in test 38100 (run with Tumbleweed and gnome) you see it passed: <https://openqa.opensuse.org/tests/38100/modules/oocalc/steps/1> Thus if you are a Tumbleweed user you hopefully won't experience oocalc failing. If you are a dev and you want to reproduce that failure you have to download the ISO for the build under test and give it a shot. Thus investigating failed tests is why one would download factory and/or one of the ring ISOs. The ISO tested by test 38005 is available on the left side under "download iso" at: <https://openqa.opensuse.org/tests/38005> I've haven't been a hardcore software developer in over a decade, but openQA is some of the most impressive automated distro testing I've ever seen. [opensuse] Removing file-associations

Hi, Recently I added a file-association (right-clicking a file and then click "open with", then "other", then select to application and select "use always"). Now all text-files are opened with that application. I have to richt-click and select e.g. KWrite to open that file. How can I "globally" remove that association ? I tried in system-configuration/file-associations. In the "Application" list there are tens, maybe over hundred, of entries, and I don't want to scan them individually to remove that application from the list. I already did from a number of them, but then I gave up. So any advice ? Thanks. [opensuse] NetworkManager fails with dhcp time-out

openSUSE 13.2 I cannot and have never succeeded getting NetworkManager to work with my wireless machines. My latest attempt on an acer laptop seems to fail with dhcp timing out, logs are at: http://wahoo.no-ip.org/~pat/NetworkManager.log.txt google searches have provided some hits but nothing that I find helps. [opensuse] firefox not running java applet ?

This is a resumption of a thread from June or thereabouts, before the summer holidays kicked in and I forgot all about it. I'm trying to access a _really_ old Compaq Remote Insight Board - I've managed to work around the low-level encryption, but when trying to login, the applet apparently isn't started. Back in June Cristian Rodriguez suggested/suspected it might be a Java Webstart app, but it isn't. It seems this would also apply to 'dbus', and is 'theoretically' possible, but haven't heard of anyone who "knows" how to configure it, actually doing so nor anyone verifying that this really works (I've tried a few variations, but never hit a working combo...). ---- BTW -- so if a display is at someone's home, and they are running a compute app in the cloud, where is the all important "seat"? I.e do they need a seat for each remote machine (seems excessive), but where is this seat stuff going? Hello, I see in the snapper pages https://en.opensuse.org/Portal:Snapper it's said than snapper can do high system i/o "Now you might also want to disable cleanup of empty pre-post snapshot pairs since otherwise the daily cleanup can cause high I/O" * may this look like a system crash (disabling even the mouse for a long time - several minutes?) * is it possible to instruct snapper to do less often snapshots? [opensuse] how to see ligs without susefirewall ones?

[opensuse] OT: how to close Firefox with open Cookie notifications?

Hello. I often search for image sources and therefore quite often land on very annoying stupid f***ing s**t pages that want to open masses of cookies. How can I close a firefox-window without clicking each and every of these notifications? - I know I can kill the process, but this will kill all my other open ff-windows, too - Yes, I checked "use this setting for all cookies from this site" Or is there a way to answer all notifications at once? Sorry to ask here, I tried to message to mozilla forum, but my question was not accepted by a "moderator" who probably clicked too much ;-) Thanks for hints! [opensuse] Keep window borders from going off edge of screen (oS-13.1 KDE)

Running stock KDE on openSUSE-13.1. I'm not sure exactly how to word this because I do not know what it is called. When I first start up KDE, the windows of auto-started apps are placed where I'd like them to be. However, whenever I move them for any reason (or some other app happens to move them), if the window border touches the edge of the screen, then, instead of the window border being snapped to the edge of the screen, it is snapped -beyond- the edge of the screeen (so it goes offscreen), and the inner content of the window is immediately up against the screen edge. I find this rather distracting and quite annoying, especially when I have a multi-screen setup and the window border shows up on an adjacent screen. Is there a way to change this behavior? I would like the window borders to snap to exactly the screen edge, not beyond (i.e., I'd like to be able to see the window border between the window content and the edge of the screen). Also, is there a way to disable the "glow" that extends beyond the borders of a selected window? That's also something that I could very much do without. I've looked through the various System Settings windows, but notthing there seems to apply. I do not know where else to look. Any ideas? I've installed calibre 2.12 from KDE:Extra, getting following error when starting from konsole: user@zenbook:~> calibre QML debugging is enabled.
