RTFM RESIZE2FS(8) The qualification being <quote> If the filesystem is mounted, it can be used to expand the size of the mounted filesystem, assuming the kernel and the file system supports on-line resizing. </quote> YMMV. That's one reason I use ReiserFS. The other is never having to worry about the inode to data ratios. All these file systems existed before systemd. The ability to expand one of them has nothing to do with systemd. Having an system that automatically mounts according to a state definition table has nothing to do with systemd. If there is a 'bug" it is that people could arbitrarily alter the system configuration so that it was not in accord with what the system definition tables said it was. If, though human oversight (which is all to common and why we automate so much) they forgot to put it back, then things are screwed and there's no trail since they didn't update the configuration definition (or if you wish, description) tables. [opensuse] 12.3 no sound you tube in firefox

Running 12.3 KDE4 4.10.5 I have Xonar STX soundcard, everything works (VLC, Clementine even Netflix using pipelight) for sound. I have been running Linux Mint mainly for a while as that was the only way I could get Netflix to work. Anyway having been able to get pipelight to work in 12.3 have reverted to 12.3 for my main use. Today I tried to run youtube videos from Firefox and whatever I do I don't get any sound. System sounds and all other multimedia progs work for sound. I have Mint in a vm and using the same hardware youttube videos work. Welcome suggestions where to look for the problem please ? [opensuse] openSUSE Installation Medium Linux Standard Base lsb-4.0-x.x Inclusion

All in my opinion Linux Standard Base lsb-4.0-X.X should be included on the installation medium and preferably defaulted for installation. I add additional installation medium that contains Google Chrome, Google Music Manager, The Google Talk Plugin and Google Earth and the lack of lsb initially breaks dependencies with some of these. Is there any reason this can not be included as part of the installation medium? I have been testing out 13.2 Beta 1 while waiting for 13.2 RC1 to download. I found two issues so far: 1. KSnapshot copies both the file save dialog and its own capture screen on top of screen captures 2. KNetworkManger displays unsecured wireless networks with the secured padlock. But there are caveats: Too many keys are intercepted, so that I can not use "joe/jstar" properly (^K^B etc, for text block manipulation). Midnight commander also has problems: alt-enter to copy a file name to the command line, functions like F6 to rename a file... I also can not start a graphical app, like for instance, gkrellm, which I use in order to see on the client to check its current load status as I do things. Also the mouse does not work, like in the parent xterm with 'mc'. Are there workarounds? Other tools? My needs is simply to start a terminal session and do things that run in the server, watch them in the client, and that the session doesn't die when the client goes off. [opensuse] System shuts down during boot

After installing 13.1 on it, my computer shuts down in the middle of boot process. It happens very quickly, so I can't read or reproduce the messages on the console. But, boot goes OK if booting to init 3. So, I boot to init 3, log in as root and do init 5. That way, system acts normally. But this is annoying and I would like to solve this. I need help with where to look for further investigation. Of course any other help is welcome! [opensuse] KMail 3: How to get a list of all contacts?

Hello, my mother still uses KMail on KDE3, stand alone, without contact or special address-book etc. Is there a simple possibility to create/export a list of all names and email-addresses she has received from or sent e-mails to (at least of the emails she has stored in her local mail folders)? It should be a simple solution as she has 80 years and I must be avle to explain it on the phone step by step... Unfortunately I do not have kmail anymore (due to change to KDE4 on my desktop), but if anybody can help, it would be just fantastic... [opensuse] System D: Debian Fork

I came across this article below, and it looks like the System D implementation on Debian has caused a great deal of havoc and alienation amongst devs and admins, so a fork is potentially in the works. I was wondering if a similar interest is also present in the openSUSE community? Is openSUSE going to become one huge monolith where practically every package is dependent on each other, and, the user is forced into a corner? For instance, that atrocious Baloo virus that runs by default on a new KDE install will start indexing before you allowed it to, and can't be removed because it's dependent on so many things. Part of it can be removed (last I checked), but not the entire thing. If things are going to become one big monolith, which obviously is contrary to the Unix philosophy, why not just run Windows? It seems like more people than not don't like System D, and Lennart Poettering's attitude has been described as rude, egocentric and childish which doesn't help the case. PulseAudio was also developed by Pottering, and I don't like it at all as it's just one more broken piece of software on top of the already overly complex Linux sound stack. I've had problems with it, and it has provided me zero benefit.
