[opensuse] News Factory with Chromium

Using the latest Chromium with News Factory. The problem I have is that the small popup screens showing the latest news are only showing three quarters of the news line in the left corner of my screen. If I am fast enough I can move to the last part of the message but in most cases I am only able to read the first part before the info is lost. Have looked into the settings but there seems nothing what could be used to reduce the letter-type used or anything else to improve its use. Now, you have to move /usr... AND your /usr/Share partition -- that was meant to be architecture independent, shareable data, vs. /usr that was designed for usr level application, vs. /bin+sbin that contained a smaller number of programs that were considered your trusted computing base -- making a trusted system easier to verify. These decisions are made by behind the scenes and are not open to discussion. As for not gonna happen...maybe not, but repair packages to undo your damage can be developed and widely distributed. [opensuse] wireless access points and traditional ifup on SuSE-11.4

I am trying to force a desktop wireless connection to use a specific AP. I see in Yast network config where I can put the mac address of the AP I want to use but it doesn't seem to work and _most_ always picks one I don't want it to use. Using network manager obviously works correctly but I must use traditional ifup on this box. How can I force it to use the AP I want it too? Note it was moved from /sbin to /usr/sbin. This means if /usr doesn't mount because it needs xfs_repair, then it is inaccessible. It isn't on the initrd either, so root can't be checked. Reality is that it is almost never needed and booting from a rescue disk is the wisest solution. But claiming that initrd was needed to check the file system when the check util has been moved to a later-mounted file sytem?? That blows that out of the water. Claiming that initrd is needed to load modules? Needed?? Maybe during install -- but there is no reason why a dynamically built kernel with the modules needed for boot couldn't be linked after install -- just like DKMS modules are built for a specific system's environment, the kernel could be rebuilt or re-linked as well. Is that your power trip? I've asked several times why those binaries couldn't have **remained** in root (or why the patches that move them can't be removed)... and have softlinks in /usr. [opensuse] installing teamviewer 64 on opensuse 12.2 64

Hi, I am having problems on the installation of teamviewer. First I followed the official steps provided in http://www.teamviewer.com/en/help/363-How-do-I-install-TeamViewer-on-my-Lin… . When I called the application, a warning with "could not load the gnu/linux extension shared library tvwine.dll.so." appeared. Searching for help, I found in particular this page http://silviumc.wordpress.com/2012/03/05/installing-teamviewer-7-on-opensus… I installed wine and the 32bit packages as above. Nonetheless, the same warning message appears and teamviewer doesn't start. I don't know what I'm doing wrong. Any help is welcome. [opensuse] Bullwinkle: Watch me use LibreOffice! Rocky: Not again! That thing never works!

Hi, I tried to use LibreOffice to open a .doc file for a friend of mine so he could fill it out for a job app. However, it won't open up in LO Writer (LibreOffice 3.5:build-413) correctly on Opensuse 12.1 or 12.2 on three different computers. Specifically, it doesn't provide a correct graphic display of the document. Also, it doesn't allow anyone to type in information in the appropriate blocks. I have linked three screenshots on this email to illustrate what is happening. http://img585.imageshack.us/img585/536/30371398.png -Skymark 1 shows the document as it should display correctly, and allows information to be typed into appropriate blocks. This was opened up with Softmaker Textmaker program. http://img201.imageshack.us/img201/4092/62537760.png -Skymark 2 shows the document opened with LibreOffice Writer. One may see that there is a superimposed block on the top of the second page on the right, placed in the wrong position on the document. LO won't allow the cursor to be placed in any block to type information into the application. http://img267.imageshack.us/img267/4830/23646315.png -Skymark 3 shows that LO has invented a second blank page for the document, which doesn't show up in any other word processing program (Textmaker, MS Word). I have scrolled down to near the bottom of the first page to show the blank second page residing under the first. Perhaps someone knows how to rectify this situation and set LO to working correctly. I hope that no one is offended by Rocky and Bullwinkle.
