Since there are openSUSEXXX folders further down the tree, I really do not get the purpose of the Distro: text further up in the tree. [opensuse] ext3grep - undelete 'accidentally' deleted file on ext3 - new to me...

Guys, I ran across a tool that may recover files on an ext3 filesystem after an 'accidental' delete (doesn't work on corrupted files, just deleted ones). Many may already know about this, but it was new to me so I thought I would pass it along: http://www.xs4all.nl/~carlo17/howto/undelete_ext3.html There are a number of packages ext3grep packages built for openSuSE in factory/contrib and build service. Use webpin to locate them (unless you are using 11.3, then you have to use zypper because wepin doesn't work -- still) Put this in the save file just in case you find yourself in a fix. -- David C. [opensuse] A Day After Firefox Upgrade 3.5 -> 3.6 Many Add-On Updates — Suspicious? (11.3)

Hi, Yesterday I installed the Firefox 3.5 -> 3.6 upgrade that was offered by YaST Online Update. After restarting the browser (which I'd quit before commencing the upgrade installation) it checked my installed add-ons, found one (a theme) to be incompatible and disabled it. The next day (today) when I started Firefox up, it presented updates for several of my add-ons, all of them seemingly unrelated to each other. Since I found the conjunction of so many updates suspicious, I thought I'd ask if anyone's aware of any exploits being propagated via Firefox add-ons. These add-ons were listed as having updates: Firebug (1.5.3 -> 1.5.4) Novell Moonlight (2.2 -> 2.3) TabGroups Manager (2009.10.02.05 -> 2010.06.20.02) Tab Mix Plus (0.3.8.2 -> 0.3.8.4) Weave Sync (1.2.3 -> 1.4.4) Xmarks (3.6.14 -> 3.8.6) Does anyone have any insights on these? Is it a coincidence? Were the updates enabled by the upgrade from Firefox 3.5 to 3.6? If so, why were they not detected until the second restart of Firefox following the upgrade? [opensuse] With KDE 4.4, how do I cause an app to run at login?

All, I've been using SpiderOak for offsite backups for the last 6 weeks or so. It's doing great on my fileservers where I have it run via cron once a day (night). (I do notice some issues, but not bugs.) But on my workstation I want it to run in automatic mode whenever I'm logged in. But I don't know where to set that. fyi: I did spend a couple minutes googling, but got lost in the clutter of messages not discussing this. [opensuse] latest update breaks T'bird Enigmail and calendar

The regular 'zypper up' seems to have broken my Thunderbird. Enigmail and the Lightening calendar no longer work. I've tried a later version of enigmail to no avail. There's no indication that the add-ins are out o date when I look at the listings in menu: Tools-:add-ons All the lightening settings - events past and future, categories - have vanished. Enigmail is claimign it can't find /usr/bin/gpg and when I override it says it can't initialze it. Anyone else seeing this? [opensuse] Problem with mount via device notifier

When I mount a USB stick via the device notifier, I can't edit or change attributes of any file. I seem to own the file and directory and have owner write permission, according to LS. Not only can I not modify the file, but I can't chmod or chow/chgrp it as root either. The entry in the mount table reads /dev/sdb1 on /media/STORIES type vfat (rw,nosuid,nodev,uid=501,utf8,shortname=mixed,flush) Do I need some kind of magic in fstab or some hal entry? -- Vizzini: INCONCEIVABLE! Hello, on my current Suse 10.2 the start page for Latex documentation is /usr/share/texmf/doc/index.html I installed now Suse 11.3 on my laptop, and I believe I installed everything Latex-related, however I can not find such on overview on the Latex-documentation?
