[opensuse] Skype should use mixer

Hello Mates, some days ago, i've created a .asoundrc because my Soundcard should use dmix. That runs perfectly. Inside KDE all Apps using the mixer. Yesterday i saw, that skype don't use this Preferences. Skype shows me just the direct Adress to play sounds. Sadly if i hear music or other stuff, and a skype sound comes, the other sound is broken, and i must new choose the track in amarok. [opensuse] openSUSE Login screen : GNOME login window

Hello again , Well I recently stumbled upon the GNOME login screen(want to change it).I found very cool ones here [1] .But when I downloaded,I am unable to use it . I tried going into 'Appearances' and then install it.But it showed error.I also tried with gdmsetup but it seems like I need some guidance.I hope you can provide me some. So how do I change into the one I downloaded . . . ? [opensuse] generic rsync quiestion

Hello listmates, IS it possible to collect files via rsync from a machine that does not have it installed? Let's say I've got a machine that has an SSH/SFTP server runningbut no rsync. Can I use a SUSE box with rsync to fetch data from that machine? Thanks. [opensuse] How can I fix screwed up permissions.

Hi, I made my local security setting more secure with the yast security module and now I get a host of problems with running configure and cmake. I've tried setting them back to easy but nothing changes, I can't even run ./configure and have to use sh configure. This problem affects root as well how can I fix it? [opensuse] Automount of USB

Hi guys I need your help with a box I have. Since a while ago I automount in GNOME of USB doesn't work anymore. When I attach the USB disk this message appear: --- Cannot mount USB Authentication is required --- /var/log/messages show this: May 25 07:58:26 buffy ntfs-3g[6821]: Unmounting /dev/sdg5 (swoop_usb) May 25 07:58:44 buffy kernel: [73057.404731] sdg: sdg1 < sdg5 > It's no problem to do manual mount if I go root but somehow automount in GNOME doesn't work anymore. [opensuse] XEN / 11.2 Cant connect virt-manager

I'm trying to configure XEN with 2.6.31.1 to check 2-0.2-xen kernel. when I start virt-manager I get an error telling me to be sure I have a xen kernel and the xen service is started. When I check /var/log/xen/xend.log I see this message: [2010-05-27 22:47:04 4545] INFO (XMLRPCServer:156) Opening Unix domain socket XML-RPC server on /var/run/xend/xen-api.sock; authentication has been disabled for this server. [opensuse] Wierd IPv6 address problem

I have a network with an IPv6 subnet. Today, I noticed that I cannot reach www.bieringer.de [2001:a60:9002:1::186:3] from my main linux box, but I can from other computers, including one running Windows. This would indicate that my router is working properly and the problem is only on this one computer. Another strange thing about this computer is that it has an extra IP address (2001:db8:1:0:215:xxxx:xxxx:xxxx) beyond the link local and subnet addresses. This sort of address or subnet does not appear on any other computer. I have no idea where to look for the cause of this issue. [opensuse] Help with Makefile patch - it fails...

Guys, One thing I'm terrible at is figuring out why a patch failed to do its thing. Here I was trying to build gnomenu and it has a patch to accommodate the ../lib64 placement of stuff on x86_64 boxes. The patch fails and creates a Makefile.rej, which looks like nothing but a patch file to me. Is there any trick to using the .rej file? How? The patch applies correctly to everything but the simple Makefile and it has got me stalled. If anyone can help, please let me know.
