[opensuse] How to make new /boot?

For various reasons I have used gparted to shrink even further the Windows partition on my laptop. I want to create a new /boot with space for *even more* kernels!!! After that I can use my old /boot for additional swap .... :-) Obviously there must be more than just moving the contents of /boot from /dev/sda6 to the newly created /dev/sda4 (Oh the wonders of gparted's naming schemes!) So what do I need to do? -- There's a tendency today to absolve individuals of moral responsibility and treat them as victims of social circumstance. [opensuse] dns too slow?

Hi all, Having some troubles with dns. Sometimes when sending mail it is not possible to resolve the addressee's domain. When checking manualy with dig, the domain will be shown. I have been checking this, when trying another domain (from which I am quite sure it will not be cached) I can see that the MX record is not resolved by the local server. When checking again, it gives the right answer. Could this be some time-out that is set too short, and is there a way to make it wait a little longer, or check the second nameserver in resolv.conf (which is the one from the ISP) before the time-out? [opensuse] KDE4.4 excessive debug

Hi all, About a week ago, I've upgraded my openSUSE 11.2 installation KDE's to 4.4 from http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/KDE:/KDE4:/Factory:/Desktop/openS… repository. I've realized that when I open KDE applications from Konsole's command line, there is a lot of debug output coming out from it. AS an example, open Konsole and type kwrite filetodelete.txt and start typing. Now notice the huge amount of output when you type, select, etc on kwrite... Is there any way to switch this debug off ? Hi, anybody has experience using Huawei modems with KNetworkManager on openSUSE 11.2?, i'm having issues described in a closed-as-fixed bug report but I see the same behavior with the latest patches applied. Error: "NetworkManager: real_connection_secrets_updated: assertion 'caller == SECRETS_CALLER_GSM' failed" This worked in openSUSE 11.0 and KDE3. Doing a kernel update ... I'm getting an error saying that the checksum on the files from ATI flgrx kernel extensions are corrupt or hacked. [opensuse] Huawei k3765 USB dongle on OpenSUSE 11.2?

Hi, I recently upgraded my mobile data account and my ISP gave me a Huawei K3765 USB dongle. I immediately went to the Vodafone Betavine forums and from that, the device should work with the lates VMC software. So I installed the latest VMC, but it does not detect the dongle. It seems that the problem is that the USB dongle is not detected as a mobile data device, only as a data storage device (CD-ROM). I understand that the unit should switch to data mode. I tried it on a Windows XP machine and it is working. So, how do I get Linux to see it as a mobile data device, so it will create the /dev/ttyUSB? devices? [opensuse] Mirror Download Speed is Terrible....

Guys, I'm tying to do an update right now and a few of the mirrors are limited to ~3k/second. That's dial-up speed. Further, transfers are stopping before they are complete with the following errors: Download (curl) error for 'http://download.opensuse.org/pub/opensuse/repositories/KDE:/KDE4:/Factory:/…': Error code: Unrecognized error Error message: transfer closed with 1915241 bytes remaining to read What's Up? Do these timeout messages somehow influence the access to other SATA devices? Particularly, I have two SATA 750GB disks in this workstation, are they handled independently? I assume that the timeout messages are caused by ivman that I use for automatic mounts of DVDs and USB sticks. (I use neither GNOME nor KDE as a desktop environment.) Any recommendations for an other volume manager that does not cause such timeouts? Any hints for other root causes of the error messages, where could I look at? Or should I simply ignore the error messages? [opensuse] Battery Monitor applet says battery not present, but there is a battery

have a dell insprion e1505, when running the battery monitor applet since updating to 11.2 / kde 4.4, always says battery not present. Worked fine under 11.2 and kde 4.3.5 openSUSE 11.2 32 bit, with kde:kde4:factory:desktop:openSUSE_11.2 Any suggestion ?
