[opensuse] Tape Loader Device /dev/sgN is altering after each reboot

Dear all, we are running SLES 11 where an iscsi tape library is attached. To load the tape in a slot we are using for instance the command #mtx -f /dev/sg1 load 2 which is doing very well. But after a server's reboot the device name of the loader is now /dev/sg4 or /dev/sg5 I mean it is dynamic. Is there any way to have a fixed device name for all times? THX for any solution! [opensuse] How can I connect to my postgresql-server?

Dear my friends.... I am still new in PostgreSQL. Usually I use MySQL on OpenSuSE. I just have installed postgres with: "zypper install postgresql-server". The installation looked OK. As post-installation process, I've done: " sussy:~ # rcpostgresql status Checking for PostgreSQL: running sussy:~ # su postgres postgres@sussy:/root> createuser -D -p ricky could not change directory to "/root" Enter name of role to add: ricky Shall the new role be a superuser? (y/n) y createuser: could not connect to database postgres: could not connect to server: No such file or directory Is the server running locally and accepting connections on Unix domain socket "/tmp/.s.PGSQL.0"? postgres@sussy:/root> ". Why can I not connect to my Postgres? Please tell me. Give me a first hint and this small step for me to getting start to use postgres. [opensuse] Managesieve setup

Hi, I have a mail server running Postfix and Courier. I would like to sort mail on the mail-server and give virtual users a way to arrange the sort. I read about Managesieve (http://sieve.info) but I can't figure out how to integrate e.g. pysieved in my setup. Is there anyone doing this and willing to share the knowledge ? Googling I found info about postfix and dovecot with pysieved. Maybe I should switch to that ? [opensuse] Install libwv2 for opensuse 11.1 and miss libstdc++.so.6

Dear my friends... I am installing iVia on opensuse 11.1. I downloaded the iVia from: http://ivia.ucr.edu/ . If I do "./configure", than I will be always stucked on this error message: " ... checking for main in -lmagic... yes checking for main in -ltokyocabinet... yes checking for main in -lcurl... yes checking for main in -lwv2... no ****Error***** You do not have libwv2 installed. sussy:/sementara/iVia/libiViaCore-6.0.1 ". So I dowloaded: "wv2-0.2.3-216.22.i586.rpm" (found with google) but again I'm stucked on this error message as I am installing the "wv2-0.2.3-216.22.i586.rpm": " error: Failed dependencies: (GLIBCXX_3.4.11) is needed by wv2-0.2.3-216.22.i586 ". I tried to find the installer of 'libstdc++.so.6' with google again but I couldn't find it. Please tell me how can I install the libwv2 and 'libstdc++.so.6' for opensuse11.1? [opensuse] Lies, damned lies and statistics

Hello listmates, Recently we have done a poll around the office. Now, I am supposed to process the results and show it all off with tables and graphs, etc. Now, I can do this by hand, of course. However, I wouldn't be much of an IT person if I did... So, does anyone know of a piece of software under Linux that could do this sort of thing? I've searched the repos, but I haven't been able to find one supplied with openSUSE. I am running 11.1, with KDE 4.3. Any way to do this in OpenOffice perhaps? Any tips are welcome. The provider Domain Name service is out of order (may be rebooting). Aigaion is a web-based bibliography management system: http://www.aigaion.nl/ For me, it is a very useful tool since I have to deal with hundreds of technical and scientific papers. I would like to see this tool added to existing scientific tools offered by openSUSE. [opensuse] why do i need console-kit-daemon on a server?
