[opensuse] cd not found under /media

Hello, I recall in earlier versions of Suse, when a CD was loaded it automatically would be found under /media/name_of_CD, however in Suse 11 this does not seem to be the case. How can I have Suse automount CDs or DVDs under /media or is there another way of doing this. I am not using X only CLI. In KDE3 it is working fine, and in KDE4 it started to work with version 4.2. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I am not using an X desktop, only a terminal command line. This is what is strange. I can put in a CD/DVD (in this case its a CD), type 'ls /media' and nothing is found. However, if I type 'cdinfo' the contents of the cd are listed. So this begs the question; where is the CD mounted? I can't find it anywhere. [opensuse] Kde4 desktop

After upgrading to kde4.2 and some going back and forth (to from GNOME) and restarts, my kde4.2 desktop seems to work. But I still don't really understand what are these folder view or desktop view... right now I have the desktop folder *and* the... what can be the name now??? what was the desktop before, that is my screen background *together* (I have two sets of icons). Where are these non folder icons stored?? I see I can reduce the folder view, but then I have only a checker (that is nothing) as background. [opensuse] openSUSE 11.1-Repositories question

I have a couple of questions about online repositories: 1) Am giving example of the KDE repos (at en.opensuse.org/KDE/Repositories) (HTML not allowed, so initial h**p:// had to be deleted). But this question also applies to other repo's as well. What is the difference between: - Version: Factory. (the first entry for a given repo, e.g. 'KDE Core Packages', 'KDE Community', etc.) - The specific version numbers for that repo that follow. (e.g. each of the above repos has a different URL for openSUSE versions 10.3, 11 & 11.1) I am confused whether I should add the Factory and/or the version-specific repo. 2) What is the significance of 'Auto-refresh' & 'Enabled' in the YaST Software Repositories module ? [opensuse] Knetworkmanager, info, know-how, how-to, documentation

Hi list, - hmmm..every now and then one will run into problems with Knetworkmanger. At least I do, albeit not on my own SuSE10.3 on which it's been running for a loooooooooong time. - but on other new SuSE11's and SuSE11.1s I now and then run into malfunctioning (not at all...) Knetworkmanagers. No output to logs, no nothing. Re-install doesn't do anyting, stuck. Now I'd be much better off if I knew what/where/when files were modified by Knetworkmanager. What files does it read and so. How to enable verbose logging and so. Surely, someone knows all this. Its developers if noone else :-) Is there a documentation somewhere? How-tos? I just made a jump on GNOME after reading this thread. I think GN?OME is now really more polished by openSUSE than Kde. The YaST interface is much better (I know I can use it even under kde :-), the "plasmoids" more complete, the kicker (looks like) menu much better.
