I can't get ANYTHING to play ogg-vorbis all the various ways one might play them tell me they are text files!! Did I miss a day of class? Cuz I don't recall having ever to do anything to play them before.. [opensuse] how to logoff :-(

hello, I don't have made any important thing on my openSUSE 11.1 recently... oops... for the last some hours... and suddenly I can't anymore logoff when I do "quit" (kde4), the screen dimm then... nothing. It goes clear again. Hi there, since SUSE 11.0 we keep getting these messages: do_ypcall: clnt_call: RPC: Timed out regularly (about once or twice a day, which makes quite a lot of mails, when you have a bunch of machines) from our clients which are connected via NIS (yp) and nfs to a Debian 4.0 server. The clients work completely normal and show no other strange behavior. I can find nothing in the server logs and obviously the file /etc/nsswitch didn't change from 10.3 to 11.0: --------------------------------------------- passwd: compat group: compat hosts: files mdns4_minimal [NOTFOUND=return] dns networks: files dns services: files nis protocols: files rpc: files ethers: files netmasks: files netgroup: files nis publickey: files bootparams: files automount: files aliases: files nis shadow: compat --------------------------------------------- Any hints what I could do? [opensuse] Where do I find perl module C::Scan?

Hello, To build a perl XS module with h2xs, I need the C::Scan module. Since I could not find this module with zypper, but h2xs suggests to install it via CPAN: $ h2xs -O --skip-autoload -b 5.8.0 -x -n Module module.h C::Scan required if you use -x option. To install C::Scan, execute perl -MCPAN -e "install C::Scan" $ So I decided to follow this suggestion and did (as root): # perl -MCPAN -e "install C::Scan" [ many lines of output deleted ] Installing /usr/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.10.0/C/Scan.pm Installing /usr/share/man/man3/C::Scan.3pm Writing /usr/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.10.0/x86_64-linux-thread-multi/auto/C/Scan/.packlist Appending installation info to /usr/lib/perl5/5.10.0/x86_64-linux-thread-multi/perllocal.pod HVDS/C-Scan-0.74.tar.gz /usr/bin/make install -- OK # But h2xs still complains that it can not find this module. "perl -v" claims /usr/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.10.0 is contained in the @INC array. [opensuse] Amarok2 and the mysqle error

I'm running openSUSE 11.1 64b with KDE4. I'm getting the amarok2 error where the collection is always shown empty and i get an error message like this: [ERROR!] Tried to perform query on uninitialized MySQLe I've found other people com complaining of the same error and the solution for most seems t have been to either to get a more recent mysql package or compile amarok from SVN. Does this mean that amarok2 doesn't work at all on openSUSE out-of-the-box ? [opensuse] Correct Way to Recursively Change Permissions

Hi list, I want to change permissions on a large directory structure to only RW for the owner of all the files. If I: chmod -R 600 /path/of/directory it won't work because it removes the 'x' bit from the directory, which prevents traversal. The only solution I've come up with is to: chmod -R 700 /path/to/directory and then: chmod 600 `find /path/to/directory -type f` Which seems like a round-about way to achieve this (and needs some hackery it you have messy file names, like ones with '-' in the path), what's the "correct" way? Hey guys, I hope this one get answer quickly. I have a drive that almost 80% full. I am not sure what has filled it.
