[opensuse] Amarok2 and the mysqle error
I'm running openSUSE 11.1 64b with KDE4. I'm getting the amarok2 error where the collection is always shown empty and i get an error message like this: [ERROR!] Tried to perform query on uninitialized MySQLe I've found other people com complaining of the same error and the solution for most seems t have been to either to get a more recent mysql package or compile amarok from SVN. Does this mean that amarok2 doesn't work at all on openSUSE out-of-the-box ? To me it was working out of the box just fine. Well, except of that stupid bug that you have to change the localhost to 127.0.0.1 in the MySQL import wizard when importing your Amarok 1.4 database. Solved. The error i had when i started amarok on debug was: GREPME MySQLe query failed! Can't find messagefile '/usr/share/mysql/english/errmsg.sys' on "init" so i found that that file comes with the mysql package. I installed it and everything is good now. Still don't understand why i had to install the mysql package as it seems other people have it working without it. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Because you selected MySQL as a database, while default SQLite is already installed. -- Regards, Rajko -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

AFAIK in Amarok2 there is no database selection anymore. It only works with MySQLe. Regards, Matthias -- Matthias Bach www.marix.org -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

True, i don't remember Amarok2 asking me for the type of database to use. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Upon first start in openSUSE 11.1 KDE3, and in configuration: Settings > Configure Amarok > Collection Collection Database {SQLite, MySQL,Postgresql} -- Regards, Rajko -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

OK, for KDE4 (amaork2) there is no even hint what to do. It just fails to create database, after installation of mysql and restarting Amarok2 will finally populate playlists. Bug(s) is already opened: https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=450318 Package from: http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/KDE:/KDE4:/STABLE:/Desktop/openSUS... should be a fix. Please test and report results. (in bugzilla) -- Regards, Rajko -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
