[opensuse] Soft links for samba shares

I use the Samba server to share some of my folders through soft links. However, I have noticed that I am not able to do the same for files, and I always need o copy the file to the shared folder. [opensuse] Browsing Samba shares

I have been experiencing this problem since updating to openSUSE 11: I cannot browse Samba shares in my network. I can mount them, when I know the exact path and IP address but can't simply list them (in SMB4K for example). The problem is caused by the firewall and when it's turned off everything works fine. Has anyone encountered a solution? [opensuse] Unsupported VGA mode with DVI cable connected

Hi all, just attaching a DVI (DVI to HDMI) cable to my graphics card (NVIDIA PCI-E) for a secondary monitor (my LCD tv) makes my opensuse 11 to boot using an unsupported graphics mode also for the VGA output (and this makes the VGA monitor unable to reach the new resolution). The only way to makes the system to boot normally seems to be to unplug the DVI cable How can I make the system to keep the normal video mode for VGA output and then to configure it to uses the DVI output as alternative screen only when I want? Do I have to use official nvidia driver to do it? [opensuse] Lazy rsnapshot

Hi listmates, I'm having a problem getting rsnapshot to do anything (running openSUSE 10.3). It runs and all that, but it fails to actually copy something to the destination. From what I can tell, I have configured everything the correct way and the command "rsnapshot configtest" also mentions all syntax is okay, although it does complain about a missing Lchown. I have tried to find Lchown, but rpm tells me that no package provides Lchown. It's also not in the repositories, AFAICT. When I run them separately, on the command line, they work so I don't believe they are the problem. I have turned on debug logging, but that doesn't tell me more than what I have shown you above. So, what do I need to do to get rsnapshot to actually get busy? [opensuse] name resolution doesn't work only from 1 PC

Hello, I have a very strange problem: suddenly I cannot reach the web using domain names from my laptop - and only from my laptop. I can reach any site using the IP-Number, but not with domain names. If I want to log into to the router-PC using ssh with the name, I get the message Temporary failure in name resolution. I can login with the IP-Number... What I don't understand, is that I can use ssh and the web normally on the other computers via the same router-PC - it just doen't work anymore from my laptop. So the name server on the router fully works (I also tried there using the host command and w3m). I havn't changed anything on the laptop. I just shutted it down (while anything worked normally), then started it again later and since then I have this problem. I tried to find any useful info in the logs, but I cannot see anything (which doesn't mean there is no info - I probably just search the wrong files for the wrong words...). Where can I look what happend and how can I find out where the problems are? Thanks for your hints. [opensuse] Wireless Internet Connect

Hello, Well I am almost there (I think). After lots of study I can now connect to my wireless lan. The system (Mac mini PPC with Airport) connects and openSuse 10.3 shows a connected system. Took me quite some time to find out how to provide the correct password to log in to my wireless network. But... there is no response when I do a ping, not from the router or other systems on the Lan. When I connect the system with wire all is well I can reach all places locally as well as internet. The cable is quite long so I am still hoping to get wireless working. Do I need to open ports? Do I need some special routing info? I specified everything I could with Network Manager. Any setting apart from Network Manager that I must look into? Any suggestions appreciated! Thank you.
