[opensuse] BASH - Test for Integer Input.

Listmates, I ran across this bash test for integers and it works brilliantly. It was quite a contrast to the myriad of case $x in ... *[0-9+-]* ... approaches I ran across. I don't know exactly how it works, but only that it works -- apparently great. If anyone could shed some light on how it works it would be appreciated. I presume it works based upon the differences in the way string and numerical data is held in memory or in a difference in what [ $AM_I_INT ] actually returns and the way the test is carried out. But that is no more than a guess. [opensuse] howto Change IMAPS port?

Listmates, Another weird question. How do you change the port for UW imap? I have 2 boxes, both mail servers, and I want to configure the second to allow imap access over port 983 instead of 993. So far I have changed /etc/c-client.cf and added: imap-port 983 This is specified in the UW doc imaprc.txt. Next, I have configured /etc/xinetd.d/imap as: service imaps { disable = no socket_type = stream port = 983 protocol = tcp wait = no user = root server = /usr/sbin/imapd flags = IPv4 } Yes, I even did the rcxinetd restart. [opensuse] Bluetooth services not shown

Hi all, kbluetooth has stopped discovering services on bluetooth devices. When I click on the bluetooh symbol on my systray (the "K"), Konqueror opens up and performs a device discovery. So far so good... but when I want to transfer files from/to a device, its services won't show up on screen as they did weeks ago... Any ideas?? Configurations are those by default on the system, so nothing has been changed... [opensuse] Error when compiling xen enabled kernel

[opensuse] Quick Perl Question #2 - Why does chomp($float); = "1"?

Listmates, Perl Q # 2 - and counting. Working with perl, I can't figure out why if I read a number (floating point) from STDIN and then chomp($float); it returns 1. Seems crazy. I can remove the new-line by dividing by 1.0, but that just seems like a hack. What say the gurus? [opensuse] The (lack of) Windows Vista-like windows switching effect for openSUSE 11.0 compiz-fusion

Hi All ! openSUSE 10.3 (compiz-fusion ccsm) and Windows Vista Aero Glass can switch windows in 3D space in very nice way. However, openSUSE 11.0 BETA1 (compiz-fusion ccsm) doesn't seem to have this effect. Where is it gone? [opensuse] Remote Desktop openSUSe 10.3 to XPpro

I am having trouble getting this going, linux to linux works fine. Suse 10.3 32bit, up to date. I am using KDRC to try and connect to an XPpro box, both are on the same network, firewall disabled (for now), remote is enabled on the XPpro box. KDRC asks for the account name, enter it, then asks for a 'system' password for connect, I don't see where I would put that in XP. What did I miss?? The XP box will end up as a headless machine (similar to my other linux box) for pic programming. [opensuse] VOB video files question

Hi all, I have alot of VOB video files. When I play them on Mplayer they run for 20-30 seconds pause 1-2 seconds. This happens all the time. What is wrong and is there anything I can do for it?
