Hello, This is the second time I've posted this message; the first time it never showed up ... I have the following machines with sendmail built from tarballs compiled and working beautifully: SuSE Linux 9.0 (i586) Linux 2.4.21-303-smp4G SuSE Linux 9.0 (i586). sendmail-8.13.6 built from tarball SUSE LINUX 10.0 (i586) Linux a004099 2.6.13-15.8-smp #1 SMP Tue i686 i386 GNU/Linux sendmail-8.13.6 built from tarball openSUSE 10.3 (i586) - Kernel \r (\l). Linux volga 2.6.22.13-0.3-default #1 SMP i686 i386 GNU/Linux sendmail-8.14.2 built from tarball All these use virtually the same site.config.m4 However on a x86-64 machine running 10.2 ... openSUSE 10.2 (X86-64) - Kernel \r (\l). Linux 2.6.18.8-0.8-default #1 SMP x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux having tried: sendmail-8.13.6 built from tarball sendmail-8.14.1 built from tarball sendmail-8.14.2 built from tarball Sendmail builds and works with the exception that it does not log the hostname of the connecting relay, but only gives the bracketed ip address - [65.54.246.143] instead of, say, bay0-omc2-s7.bay0.hotmail.com - and the hostname is not provided to milters - also just the bracketed ip address. sendmail[2546]: m2LJVpYZ002546: from=<xxxxxx(a)hotmail.com>, size=6972520, class=0, nrcpts=1, msgid=<BAY140-W316D9F76FFAB662746FD0EE3010(a)phx.gbl>, proto=ESMTP, daemon=MTA, relay=[65.54.246.143] <<< It does, however, put the hostname in the Received header that it adds. Example: Received: from lists4.suse.de ([195.135.221.135]) Bind is running locally and DNS seems to work as sendmail rejects non-existant domains and TEMPFAILs those that it cannot resolve the PTR record. Also if I put an entry in /etc/hosts, that hostname is logged and provided to milters, so I assume it must be DNS related I've googled but can find anything - Woe is me! [opensuse] Xinetd question

Hello all: I have a few boxes, built from the same os, with same application on there, that is started by xinetd. The config file is: service uptmagnt { disable =3D no flags =3D REUSE socket_type =3D stream wait =3D no user =3D nobody server =3D /opt/uptime-agent/bin/uptmagnt } Now, for unknown reasons, this agent doesn't respond on the port that's defined in /etc/services, some of the time and the only way to get it to respond is to restart xinetd. It's the only agent that is not responding and it's only on one of the many identical boxes. The only difference on this box, that I can think of, is the date gets changed on it, every day. The saga is about to conclude. The Gigabyte motherboard GA-MA790FX-DS5 with an AMD Phenom quad-core is unstable under full load, period. I suspect the memory controller setup, but Gigabyte has been unable to reproduce (under Windows). Last week I purchased an MSI board (K9A2 CF) with slightly lower specs (primarily AMD790X instead of -FX chipset) - yesterday I installed it with the same components (cpu, psu, memory, disks etc.). Earlier this afternoon it completed a 24 hour burn-in run with mprime stresstests going at full throttle - showing no problems whatsoever. Right now it's running four copies of mprime plus a Kubuntu installation in Virtualbox, and a Firefox3 beta. (I'm browsing the net whilst waiting for Kubuntu to make some progress). [opensuse] suse 10 freezes randomly on ibm blade

hi, we are testing several java (java-version: 1.5.0_10) applications on suse 10 (version 2.6.16.46) with 16 cpu´s (intel xeon 3.00ghz) and 4GB ram on a ibm blade. sometimes it happens that suse freezes randomly and i can´t access the machine via ssh or anything else anymore. i only can push the reset-button. there is really nothing useful in the log files. we have the same setup running on a second ibm blade with 8 cpu´s and 16GB ram - without any problems. you guys have any idea what could be the problem with the first setup (16 cpu + 4GB ram)? maybe little ram-memory? thanks in advance, marton -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe(a)opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help(a)opensuse.org

[opensuse] Lyris Listserver on OpenSUSE 10.3?

Hi, I'm in the process of trying to set up some online resources for my local community organization - I've been using 10.3 for quite a while and am very comfortable with it. I'm trying to install the Lyris list manager in a XEN VM in order to manage some timed e-mails and such (I am familiar with Mailman and the other OSS solutions for this - however, I need some features of Lyris with regards to scheduled mailings and whatnot for non-technical people who will be sending mailings out). When I try to start Lyris, I get the error message: lyris: dynamic-link.h:57: elf_get_dynamic_info: Assertion `! "bad dynamic tag"' failed. /etc/init.d/lyris: line 8: 2013 Aborted PATH=/sbin:/bin:/ usr/bin /usr/local/lyris/bin/lyris -bd While I know this is more likely not an OpenSUSE issue but rather a Lyris issue, I wondered if anyone could tell me what the elf_get_dynamic_info error means - I can't seem to find a good definition of what it is in order to correct it. In both instances, the sound played exactly as I expected. Then - just because I'm in a good mood and my five-year-old is watching Godzilla (with Raymond Burr) - I fired up some Toten Hosen on Amarok. I then tried to play the file in Crossover Office and see if I could hear the sounds above Das Wort Zum Sonntag. No dice. Muting Campino and the boys didn't do any good either. I then quit Amarok, quit Crossover Office and restarted Crossover office. The sound played just fine during the slideshow. I then restarted Das Wort Zum Sonntag in Amarok and opened the file in OpenOffice Impress. Sure enough both sounds played through the speakers - though there was a conflict and the slide show was louder than than Die Toten Hosen. I then tried a different approach. I fired up a nice quiet website - http://www.badgerbadgerbadger.com - while playing the slide show in Open Office and die toten hosen. Sure enough, all three apps played nicely. My five year old then told me to shut the computer off because he wasn't able to hear Godzilla. IOTW, you might look and make sure that no sound applicaitons are - or have been - hijacking the KDE sound subsystem. [opensuse] Factory repo rpm problem

Hi, I just tried to update OpenOffice from factory and (fortunately before downloading the real big files) every file, so far, fails with the rpm error :- "unpacking of archive failed: cpio: Bad magic" Anybody else know how many corrupt files are in the factory repo or if anybody is aware of this problem yet.
