It has never worked, but now, after I installed kde4 besides kde3 it is worse: some kde3 apps are overridden by the kde4 app, like konqueror or kwrite. If in konqueror (kde4 version) I type "help:kwrite" I get: ] The requested help file could not be parsed: ] /usr/share/doc/kde/HTML/en//kwrite/index.docbook If I type "help:kbabel" I get: ] There is no documentation available for /kbabel. [opensuse] YaST System Backup hangs

I'm using the opensuse 10.3 in a small intranet server and I'm trying to backup data with Yast (yast2 backup). Unfortunately, when it arrives at "Create package archive 56%" it hangs. Do you know where I can find the log to understand what's happened? If Yast doesn't work which kind of simple backup tool do you suggest? [opensuse] Xorg changing screen size and SaX2

Hi, I have used the XF86 for many years and have always liked the 'zooming' feature of changing the screen mode on the fly with the CTRL-Alt-'+' or CTRL-Alt-'-' combinations. I am currently running with SuSe 10.1 on both a desktop and an IBM T42 Laptop. The 'zooming' works on the desktop but not the laptop. I am speculating that the problem might just be the keyboard on the laptop. But since I do not have a keyboard that will work to plug into the laptop I cannot debug it that way. Is there some other way to see what the keyboard is getting for key strokes? If someone has a better explanation & fix I would like to hear it. Hello; I'm looking for nvidia drivers for SuSE 9.1. While the Novell site is very fancy, it seems to change often, and now I cannot find where all of the old SuSE rpms are located. Can anyone point me in the right direction? [opensuse] 32bit Linux also limited to 3GB RAM??

Hello, I recently bought a Thinkpad T60p that was sold with 3GB of RAM. The seller advertised "free 4GB upgrade", although I did not care much. When the Laptop arrived, I kept WinXP on it (as I had paid the license...), and it said 3GB (I know it won't see more anyway with WIn 32bit). I installed 10.3 in 32bit as well (I have no specific use for 64bit and various driver issues make me stick to 32bit for the moment). Linux (well, KDE) also showed 3GB, so I concluded that there had been no "free 4GB upgrade", period. Today I tried a modified Mac OS X install disk (uphuck 1.3) just to see, out of curiosity, what hardware would be identified - and the OS X installer reported 4GB. So does the Bios, now that I looked at it. I have not installed OS X, so it may be that part of the memory is allocated to the GPU (although the T60p has, unfortunately, the ATI FireGL 5250 and I think it has it's own memory). I'm running the 2.6.22.17-0.1-bigsmp kernel. Should I change the kernel to use the 4GB? Or switch to 64Bit? Not that I really need the extra 1GB, it's just a little stupid to have this memory sitting there unused.... I've read several posts about this problem, but they were unclear, saying it could be the chipset, the kernel, etc... Is there a clear answer? [opensuse] 10.3 half way installed, crashed. How can I continue the install?

Listmates, I have 10.3 partially installed (nfs install) and the install died. All of the software is installed, but it stopped before the part where you "enter root password". I can use the live cd to boot the installed system, but at the login: prompt, I can't login (as root or anyone else). The login: prompt just continually says login not allowed. The system boots fine with only 4-5 module errors due to the fact that the install never got to the point where you configure the network card, video, etc.. I have experienced this once before and was able to continue the install, but for the life of me, I cannot recall how. I would rather not go through the install again as this is a slow machine being set up as a fax server and the software install takes a "not insignificant" amount of time. Can anyone offer up the forgotten bits of wisdom or kick me so that I remember. -- David C. Rankin, J.D., P.E. Hey Group; Again I see a problem with SuSE 11 Yast2 and cups. I call up Yast2 Hardware Printer and go all the way trough the setup for my HP 4L printer and all I find is one filter driver. OK one driver would be fine but the printer will not even print or wake up. It did work in 10.3GM just fine. I am also seeing when calling up Yast2 again the Filter is not set to "Letter" like when I originally set it up. Al that shows up is "....." Anyone one have a idea on this subject. [opensuse] Suggestions for backup software?

I would be grateful for advice about backup software appropriate for my situation, and for remarks people using such utilities, including what to avoid. I can see that there are several packages available through YaST, but it would be helpful to know what others think about them and about relative advantages. I have only one Linux system here, so network capability is not important. I do not have a tape drive, but would be read carefully any remarks about whether I need one.
