[opensuse] Display oddity when upgrading from 10.0 to 10.3

Hello, everyone. I am writing using my wife's account on the SuSE list. I recently upgraded my desktop from 10.0 to 10.3 (clean install). Now when I view images (for example, a powerpoint slide, or a .jpg) what previously had displayed as a perfect rectangular landscape image instead shows as almost a square (and in some cases actually is a square). The page size setting in Powerpoint is correctly set at the default and I confirmed that it is the same as on another computer (SuSE 10.0) that displays properly, so that's not the problem. I have looked everywhere in Powerpoint and in Gwenview for a setting (e.g., aspect ratio) that might be off but have not found anything that changes the aspect ratio or any other setting so that what is now appearing as a square or nearly a square will instead display as a proper rectangle. I also looked at various images on my 10.0 laptop which displays properly and copied those images to the 10.3 desktop. When viewed on the desktop the image (e.g., a screen shot) is squished. :o( Any ideas on how to get this 10.3 pooter to display images correctly? Many thanks for your wise suggestions. I have been granted permission to send you this email by the openSUSE management, and I hope you do not mind receiving it. [opensuse] 10.3 Kernel problem with P5A-B motherboard.

I should be most grateful for advice on how to investigate this problem further. I have installed opensuse 10.3 on a P5A-B motherboard (Aladdin V chipset) with 512MB of SDRAM, Cyrix MII-300 processor. This runs slowly, with somewhat garbled graphics (ATI Radeon 7000) if I use X windows. Without X windows, in run level 3, the load average after booting (and after it has done various database things and settled) is about 0.50. Even if I start it with so-called safe mode and remove all loadable modules apart from those needed to drive the IDE interface the load average never falls below about 0.20. In the first case the CPU usage is about 60% idle and about 30% "si" (is this context switching?). In the second, CPU is about 95% idle, but the load average varies from 0.16 to 0.22. I assume some driver or high priority kernel process too fundamental to show up by "ps" is in a loop occupying processor time. Certainly the machine is even more sluggish than the hardware should warrant (and I am using older hardware in a router running SuSE 10.1 with load averages about .01 to .02). This is clearly too vague for a bug report, can anyone suggest how I can pin this down more, for instance find out where the CPU is spending most of its time? [opensuse] rsync - keys - no-password question

Hello, I want to stop the password request when running rysnc on a second source server. I have a single target machine that has ssh keys from a source machine (source A). I want to connect a second source machine (source B), using rsync over ssh, to the target machine, however I see keys in the target machine's /etc/ssh directory. If I create keys on 'source B', they'll have the same name as the keys from source A on the target machine. Sorry if this is a stupid question, but how do you accomplish having the ssh keys set properly on the target machine from two different source machines? [opensuse] Strange SATA problems with openSUSE

I've posted a couple times about this with no replies yet.... Earlier today, the entire computer came crashing to a halt... so it forced me to spend more time looking into the problem. The motherboard I have (ASUS M2N-e SLI) has 4 SATA2 ports. SATA 1, 2, 3 and 4. I also have a SATA1 RAID controller with 2 SATA ports. I have drives connected on IDE0 and IDE1 and they are working fine. Scenario 1: If I leave the RAID card out, and just connect drives to SATA 1 and SATA 2.... the computer boots fine. BIOS finds the SATA drives, and Linux is happy. Scenario 2: If I add drives to SATA 3 and 4 in Scenario 1, the BIOS sees all four drive2, but when I boot Linux, it errors out. I can boot the OS, but the error logs fill up with errors, and I have serious performance issues.. until it just dies altogether. Scenario 3: If I add the RAID card in to Scenario 1, but do not connect any drives to the RAID, all boots and works OK. Scenario 4: If I connect 2 SATA drives to the RAID card, and have two drives from Scenario 1 also connected, all works and boots OK. Scenario 5: If I connect a SATA drive to SATA 3 or 4 in Scenario 4, I get the same results as with Scenario 2... a long list of SATA errors on the boot. Has anyone encountered this before? Could it be a hardware issue.. a failing SATA controller on the motherboard, or is it some obscure Linux thing? Dear All, I have successfully been using http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/Beagle/openSUSE_10.2/ To provide an installation source of Beagle, beagle-0.2.18-5.1. As a replacement to beagle-0.2.12-28 (which will consume 100% of a CPU) However the above URL now no longer contains beagle. Attempts to use either http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/Beagle/openSUSE_10.3/ or http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/Beagle/openSUSE_Factory/ Create the expected list of broken dependencies. Is there still in existence a repository with beagle for 10.2 ?
