Hi, Okay, after playing around a little bit for a while i still gotta come and ask here. I got my printer setup on my suse 10.1 server system and i can print just fine with my Suse 10.2 client but not with the Windows client(s). In Windows i can browse for the printer and it shows it up nicely. Double click tells me that it'll download the driver to the system but then it still can't find it and i will need to install it manually. Anyways, once done this, i can nicely add it to my windows printer(s) but when i try to print something it tells me "Access denied, unable to connect". I'm not reallly sure what's wrong since i can print from my suse 10.2 client just fine. Can anyone help me? This would be appreciated! [opensuse] initrd

hey all, its been awhile since i've had to compile a kernel, but i had to for some things and i've installed it with no real issue, the thing is that I used the old initrd file for my boot loader. Therefore it didn't seem to load the new modules. Makes sense i guess. Anyway, i'm on a ppc and i have not found an easy way to create an initrd image. [opensuse] use headphones and line out independently on Intel 82801DB-ICH4

Hi, I want to mix some music and use therefore the headphone-out and the line-out of my soundcard independently. By now, I can only change the volume for both headphone-out and line-out together using master-volume. The Volume-control for the Headphones in the mixer doesn't have any effect. Does anyone know if that is possible with my soundcard? Intel 82801DB-ICH4 Chipset Analog Devices AD1981B . [opensuse] Weird problem in KDE 3.5.7

I'm using openSUSE 10.2 and KDE 3.5.7, and for some reason when ever I right click on anything in the desktop nothing happens but left clicking works fine. I know its not the mouse, which is a PS/2 two button with scroll bar, because it only does this in KDE and this problem only started happening today. I'm wondering if anyone else had this problem before and if so what they did to fix it. Thanks

[opensuse] Gutenprint - OpenSuSE 10.0 - where are the PPD files?

I've got OpenSuSE 10.0 installed to my desktop. I want to use my Olympus P10 photo printer on the PC. I installed Gutenprint 5.0.1, following the INSTALL & README files. It was written that Gutenprint includes PPD files for the printers it supports, and that they are usually found at /usr/share/cups/model/gutenprint. I cannot find the PPD files anywhere on my system. I have restarted CUPS, and it does not list any Olympus printers when I try to add a printer. I've tried searching the 'net for a PPD file for my printer, and all I found was a handful of sites explaining that the appropriate PPD was included with Gutenprint. (AAGGHHH!!) I must be missing something ridiculously obvious here, but I'm stuck. Help? With such a configuration you cannot expect to have squid proxy and all the other features to deliver performance for hundreds of users, but it worked very well for my home network and it worked and worked and worked and never stopped. Hi, I have a laptop (Asus G1S) with an embedded web cam (apparently is a Chicony 1.3M - theoretically supported by uvc). The LED is on but doesn't seem to work. [opensuse] Dell Notebook

I have a friend that has a Dell notebook that is a Windows holdout. However, he keeps seeing my setup at home and listening to me tout SuSE and he sent me a question recently that I simply can't answer. Will it work on his machine? This is the information he sent me: The info on this machine is: Dell Inspiron 1521 - AMD Turion X2 1.6 Ghz processor, 2 Gb RAM, 160 Gb HD, Sigma Tel high def audio codec, ATI Radeon X1270 video, Broadcomm wireless 802.11b/g. The SUSE 10.2 Live dvd had everything working except the sound and the wireless. I was wondering if anyone in the SUSE forums had this configuration and had everything working under 10.2? Any information about how well 10.2 in particular performs on the above hardware ESPECIALLY multimedia. He listens to MP3's and watches *.avi and DVDs and even plugs his stereo into the line out jack so he can listen to his CD collections he has captured on disk. He currently uses Windows and if 10.2 works well with his specific hardware, I believe he will now join the ranks of EX Windows. I would also be interested in how 10.3 B3 and later work though from testing on my home machines (not Dell), I am not sure it is quite ready for prime time. It has 'eaten' my drives, hidden my cursor, blanked my sound, and while I'm willing to test and try to debug 10.3, I'm not sure it is quite ready for someone so currently Windows centric but 'looking'.
