[opensuse] Bluetooth security

Hi All! I am running SUSE 10.0 Professional and I am printing to an HP Deskjet 460 that I access using Bluetooth. When I set it up, I saw no options to define a key or anything else to prevent other people from using this device. Although I am not too worried about my neighbors printing without my permission, I would still like to be able to secure this connection. I would appreaciate any pointers and/or handholding. The Linux Version runs on a 233 MHZ Laptop even with QT gui, a FLTK gui is as an alternative as well available. The applicaiton is transalated into more than 15 languages and all OLPC Launch countries are available (except Lybia atm). [opensuse] video monitor aspect ratio samsung 226bw 22inch wide

hi folks, I am testing a 22 inch Samsung 226BW wide monitor and would like some assistance with the aspect ratio in openSUSE 10.0. The monitor is configured as 1680x1050, 16.7m colors, and for the most part looks great.. particularly color graphics. The monitor has two down sides: 1) fonts are a bit fuzzy out of box... took some tweaking on the fine controls to sharpen the fonts without "overdrive" and then the fonts are still not as crisp and clear as the 713V-- but they are liveable, for $329. 2) the display is oh so very slightly stretched lengthwise. Circles are just ever so slightly oblong and photos are ever so slightly squashed top to bottom. Is there a way in software config to sharpen the fonts? Is there a way in software config to tune up the aspect ratio ever so slightly? Ps The monitor is correctly configured as aspect 16/10 with dimensions of 474mm X 296mm. Thanks... Pss For those of you who know about the "A" vs "S" panel differences, this is an "A" panel... apparently made by AOC instead of Samsung "S". Moving content from one side to the other should not be possible, the only thing that is common to both are mouse and keyboard. Most common reason is different color depth, it has to be the same for both. Daft question: if you had a CPU with HT enabled doing a cat /proc/cpuinfo showed 2 CPU's. I've just installed OS10.2 on a dual-core Athlon 64 system but I'm only showing 2 CPU's instead of 4. I've not used these CPU's before so want to check that the 2.6.18.xxx kernel still shows HT as a separate processor before I suspect the hardware. I just installed 10.2 on my mother's machine. All appears well. I am sticking with SMART to handle upgrades and whatnot. My question - can I remove the ZMD or will that hose her system? Right now, I've got some time, because she's downloading some bazillion updates. hi list, today I got message that I'm running out of disk space. And I found file in my home diractory .xsession-errors and it's size was over 8Gb!!! The last kernel update for openSUSE 10.2 showed a couple of bugs (see bugreport #252911) in the code that updates the bootloader configuration after a kernel update. We have tried to fix all of them and did internal testing - and fixed further bugs encountered during the internal testing. Now we're confident that we have fixed everything we tested ;-) - but would like to have the code tested in many more environments. Therefore I've created a repository that contains a new perl-Bootloader package and a new kernel. The new kernel contains as most interesting feature the re-enablement of CONFIG_USB_DEVICEFS - and also a small number of bugfixes. For me it's most interesting to have the kernel so that you can test that the bootloader rewrite works ;-) Please add the following URL as repository for testing: ftp://ftp.suse.com/pub/people/aj/10.2-bootloader-test Please install *first* the perl-bootloader patch and then *afterwards* the kernel patch. Scenarios to test: ------------------ * openSUSE 10.2 & 10.3 (Alpha) installed with - /boot primary partition - /boot logical partition - / primary partition - / logical partition - persistent device links (default) - LVM proposal - EVMS proposal - fakeraid * Various architectures (i386, x86_64, ...) * Various bootloaders (GRUB, LILO, ...) * Update/install/remove kernels with rpm - Will new boot entries be created/removed? - Will new entries be inserted on top (e.g. in menu.lst)? - In case of default/smp/bigsmp kernels, will failsafe entries be created? - Is the label correct, thus "<Distribution> -- Kernel-<version-release>"? * Handling of default entries - New kernels should only become default if the kernel referring to the former default entry has the same flavour (e.g. 'smp' or 'xen') * System must be bootable ;) Please report everything in bugzilla and mention that you used the 10.2-bootloader-test repository.
