There is actually a 'for real' working version of a paper clip assistant for 'vi' - done for laughs and greatly at the expense of M$'s "clippie". It's called 'vigor' and it's completely hilarious. Looking for a good gui based video capture program, running opensuse 10.2-x86-64 with kde. I'm not looking to copy dvd's, just save some tv programs from my tivo before they accidently get erased. Oops, sorry about the message threading problem. I never read mailing lists threaded, so I forget about that. Shouldn't, as I usually switch to GMane before too long... Anyway, what is the easiest way to install KDE? Is there some kind of "meta-port" like in FreeBSD that will select the basic packages needed? I see that kdebase and kdelibs are already installed. Hello, Installed 4GB of physical memory, however only 3GB appear; # cat /proc/meminfo MemTotal: 3342628 kB I'm running the 64 bit kernel (Suse 10.0); 2.6.13-15-smp #1 SMP Tue Sep 13 14:56:15 UTC 2005 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux ...with two CPU's; # cat /proc/cpuinfo processor : 0 vendor_id : AuthenticAMD cpu family : 15 model : 37 model name : AMD Opteron(tm) Processor 246 stepping : 1 cpu MHz : 2009.270 <snip> processor : 1 vendor_id : AuthenticAMD cpu family : 15 model : 37 model name : AMD Opteron(tm) Processor 246 stepping : 1 cpu MHz : 2009.270 cache size : 1024 KB <snip> Any ideas on how to remedy this? [opensuse] Time stability

This is probably a hardware issue, but I need to see how to investigate: I run SUSE 10.0 and 10.1 on various computers. Usually, we set it up so that the computer time is set to UTC, and we then state where we are in the world. On many machines, we have a problem where the time seems to get screwy between boots. It is usually the time of day more than the date. The error seems to be random. Not just the hour. But the minutes as well. So, we then tried setting the computer to local time, informing SUSE of this. Same problem. I am guessing that the motherboards have some issues. They are all rather new and made by SuperMicro. I am not sure if they are all the exact same model (I am checking). How could I get SUSE to record what the hardware time was when it boots, before making any changes, and then what it is after any changes? Same thing on power down. I guess this is tricky because these things probably happen when there are no disks mounted. Any ideas? I know I could check the BIOS each time. [opensuse] ALC850 problems in 10.2

Anyone who's managed to get any sound from a Realtek ALC850 chip in 10.2? I just tried to install on a MSI K8N Neo2 Platinum and the sound is detected as nVidia nForce3.. Hi list, I need some image viewer for basic operations with my photos. I tried JCDsee, gthumb and some other viewers, but I didn't find one to satisfy me. The main criterias for me is: - fast. don't hangs when creating directory thumbnails - have some possibilities for images edition (contrast, exposure, etc.) - batch processing What viewer are you using?
